James Garner certainly came over as a nice guy. Like I said, his character Jim Rockford was a hero to many of us at our school.

"Rockford Files best theme tune ever!"
Either that, Hill Street Blues, or MASH.

All in the top three I agree.
Big Bang Theory is number 4.

Nah Hawaii Five-O, for spookiness Dexter, plus The Tonight Show, Black Beauty, Thunderbirds, Blockbusters, Casey Jones, Dave Allen at Large, Dallas, Ellery Queen, Screen Test, It's A Knockout, Nationwide, The Persuaders, Robinson Crusoe, Flashing Blade, The Tomorrow People, University Challenge (original) all much better.

I didn't know there was a definitive answer to that. Thanks for enlightening us that they were all better than the Rockford Files.
Garner was one of the best. My dad took me to see Grand Prix on it's first run. Many of the real drivers who were in that film said Garner could have raced professionally and unlike all the other actors he did most of his own driving.

Me too...
You got to fight for what you want,
For all that you believe.
It's right to fight for what we want,
to live the way we please.
etc etc

Funnily enough several episodes of MASH were screened on one of those obscure channels that we all get with Freeview this afternoon. I watched one and the soundtrack brought back some memories. A very good tune. There aren't many shows these days, if any, that have theme tunes like that or the Rockford Files or Hill Street Blues. It's a shame, years ago many TV programme soundtracks were something the fans enjoyed as much as the show itself.
