Or people are more likely to focus on the negatives.

If 10 people were murdered in your area over the next 3 months, would you be talking about the 10 people who've been murdered while you are in the pub or the 25,000 who weren't murdered in that same area and time period?

It's just the way.....

No not at all. Merely making the point that we expect younger people to have more liberal/left views. France proves that is not always the case...

I dunno. You didn't show the percentage of people who voted for the National Front who belonged to older age groups.

Do you have any stats?

But what can we do with that statistic if we can't put it in context?

For all we know 90% of the over 35s voted for the NF.

While I would agree with Arginald that the UKIP have arrived the question is
"for how long ?" To a very great extent the Party represents a backlash
against current immigration policies and a wonderful, but I would suggest,
outdated idea, that we will be better off going it alone (ala 1940 and all
that). The British people are by nature traditionalists and UKIP demonstrates
this beautifully.
Farage is an entertaining and vivacious personality who can appeal in ways
to ordinary folks, which the leaders of the three main parties seem unable to
do, partly through lack of charisma, partly through an inability to connect
with working class folk (in the case of the two who went to Eton especially).
Since the drip who leads the Tory Party, and must be their worst leader this
century, has stamped on traditional right-wing views, pushed through gay
marriage despite major opposition in his own ranks, ignored the ground-
swell of worry about immigration, I think he got just what he deserved.
But UKP seem to have little to offer in the way of policies other than closing
the door to some Pole who drives the bus etc. Like the Scottish Nationalists,
they have one crowd-pleasing line but not much of substance.
Problem is Mr Farage is about the most entertaining politician by a mile these
days. The 3 main parties have dullards and dunderheads to offer us.

Dullards and dunderheads !laugh! Describes them perfectly.

Tuition fees Clegg is in denial saying he's going to do his duty and calling everyone a racist. Ed choked on a working class bacon sandwich and Bullingdon boy Cameron says Farage isn't normal. !deadhorse!

They spend too much time in the Londonski bubble of affluence and surround themselves with dunderheads.

Agreed. Farage is the only leader who doesn't sound as if he has been programmed with a micro chip.

Those politicians who argue that the UKIP result was just a protest vote are kidding themselves.

No party other than Labour and Tories has ever won a national election outright since 1910 until last night.

The Tories have never come third in their history in a national election until last night.

The idea that this is some kind of protest flash in the pan strikes me as daft.

Quite. I loved the UKIP candidate's explanation as to why UKIP had done worse in London than elsewhere, "They tend to be more educated in London".

You might think I agree, but I couldn't possibly comment!
