"That is simply not true. There are thousands of jobs out there. The problem is that many people are not suited to those jobs. Chap on The Wright Stuff this morning got made redundant 18 months ago from his ?50k-a-year IT job. He assumed that he would walk into another job. He has found that unskilled jobs employers won't take him on because they think he would not stay long and after 18 months his industry has moved on."

I don't agree with many things this government have attempted or done regarding the low paid and employed, however this is interesting as I read it is aimed at people who have been without a job for 2 years or more. I think after 2 years if you haven't managed to find work then you are either pulling a fast one or you need to be forced to work.

So how can Sparky be right when he says that there are 2.5million more people than their are jobs? That's almost half a million off the bat from your own link...

2 years is the current definition of long term unemployed but when this has been doing the rounds on TV 1 year is mentioned as the target group.

Those jobs on offer they include part time, zero hour contract also bear in mind the definition of full time employment for job centre purposes is 16 hours or more.

Also it's not just the registered unemployed who compete for these jobs but those in work currently, immigrants etc.. So these countless jobs available for One and all don't exist.
