Despite my hatred of Islam, I cannot side with any group that just has one goal against one single religion. I mean, aside from the racists among them, have they actually said anything meaningful or insightful? They just seem like a group of little Englanders.

It is sad, though, that no one on the left wants to stand up and criticise such an intolerant theology that goes against everything that it is to be 'leftist'. Nowadays it seems to be considered leftist you have to be seen to kowtow to Islam at every opportunity, and come running to it's defence at the slightest criticism. Forget feminism, fighting for the proletariat and economics, it's all about a bronze-aged death cult now.

Nick Cohen wrote a good book on this very subject called "What's Left?: How the Left lost it's Way" A leftist that was mercilessly attacked by his leftist colleagues for writing it.

"Because the media always call the EDL 'far right' this has given the impression to more of less everyone that they are."

Max, when you look into the toilet bowl, a shit is a shit, not a red rose by any other name.

And as for Tommy Robinson, the Vladimir Lenin of the EDL...what's the phrase - donkeys led by donkeys!!

Searchlight magazine identified the "Tommy Robinson" involved with the EDL as Lennon, and reported that he had served a twelve months prison sentence for assaulting an off-duty police officer who had intervened to stop a domestic incident between Lennon and his partner Jenna Vowles. He was convicted on 18 April 2005 for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault with intent to resist arrest while his partner was cautioned for possession of cocaine.

On 24 August 2010, Robinson was involved in a fight between supporters of Luton Town and Newport County in Luton, on the evening the two clubs played at Kenilworth Road. Lennon reportedly led the group of Luton fans, and played an integral part in starting the 100-man brawl, during which he chanted "EDL till I die". Eleven months later, in July 2011, he was convicted of having used "threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour" on the night of the incident. He was given a 12-month community rehabilitation order and a three-year ban from attending football matches. He was also sentenced to 150 hours' unpaid work, and ordered to pay ?650 in costs.

Robinson was arrested after an EDL demonstration in Tower Hamlets on 3 September 2011 for breach of bail conditions, as he had been banned from attending the demonstration. After his arrest, Robinson began a hunger strike in custody in Bedford Prison, saying he was a "political prisoner of the state" and refused to eat what he believed was halal meat. A local paper reported that Bedford Prison sources said the hunger strike lasted less than 24 hours.[ A handful of EDL supporters protested outside the prison in support of Robinson during his incarceration, peaking in a turnout of 100 protesters on 10 September. Robinson was released from prison on 12 September.[25]

On 29 September 2011 he was convicted of common assault after headbutting a fellow EDL member at a rally in Blackburn in April that year. The judge stated that a custodial sentence could not be ruled out.

On 8 November 2011, Robinson held a protest against the ban on wearing a poppy for the England team on the rooftop of the FIFA building in Zurich. He was fined ?3000 and jailed for three days.

On 7 January 2013 Robinson pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to using someone else's passport?"possession of a false identity document with improper intention"?to travel to the United States in September 2012, and was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment. He was sentenced under the name of Stephen Lennon, but the judge added that he suspected it was not his true name, in the sense that it was not the name on his own passport (not the borrowed one), Paul Harris. Robinson was released on Electronic tag on 22 February 2013.

The most disappointing thing about the idiot left is they don't seem to get that the terrorists want them dead as much as the terrorists want the idiots with three letters dead.

The left should be challenging why things like this have been allowed:

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/uk/a ... 778134.ece

but going by the comments of some morons they're happy for this particular cut to have happened.

The other things that infuriate me are the calls for terrorists to be educated by people who are at the same time more than happy to exchange bottle tosses and have battles with other mindless thugs.

That and things like the quoting history while conveniently forgetting people like Emily Davidson resorted to using violence (and I am not condoning it) because her voice wasn't being heard.

I've just watched those two clips you've linked to. They don't reveal anything I wasn't aware of, I knew there were people like that in the organisation, I've seen clips of Nazi salutes by EDL members before. We've discussed it on here in the past aswell. As I said in my last comment however, if this is the official line of the organisation then the organisation is to be condemned. If it is some extremists in the organisation doing it, it is not condoned or supported by the leadership, and the leadership have no policy supporting such behaviour and would throw out anyone who does that, then I don't think the organisation can be branded 'far right' as it is not what the leadership wants the organisation to be. There are racists in the two main political parties, you would hear vile things said if you planted a recording device in many Labour working men's clubs and at Tory grass-roots dinner parties. This is not condoned by the leadership of either of the main parties. If I saw one clip or photo of the leader of the EDL doing a Nazi salute, or him looking on as other in the EDL did, then I would change my mind about them instantly and forever.

The things you've detailed in your comment confirm that Tommy Robinson is an aggressive, football hooligan type guy, who I would feel uneasy getting to know and would probably give a wide berth to if he lived in my street - on account of the fact he might attack me if I upset him. This does not confirm he is far right though. Have a look at all the things you've just listed, and at any other things you could copy and paste from the internet, and tell me what confirms him to be a far right person. Nick Griffin of the BNP on the other hand most certainly is. He is on record denying the Holocaust, demanding all non whites be expelled, and just last week saying he wants all muslims thrown out of Britain. There are YouTube clips one can watch where he clearly states all those things.

The Murdoch press are certainly one of Help for Hero's main supporters. Loads of stuff in The Sun about them every day for the last week. I rarely buy The Sun but it is always in the reception of the place I work and I thumb through it at lunchtime. Quite an interesting read on some days.

Yeah every time I go down a working men's club I'm appalled by the Nazi salutes.

Tommy Robinson is a football hooligan and ex member of the BNP running an organisation full of Fascists and football hooligans and much admired by Norwegian mass murderer, Anders Breivik.

Maybe they are just your cup of tea Max, but not mine. Stop making excuses for them!
