It is quite wrong for people to buy Judy Garland's Ding Dong the Witch is Dead to mark the death of Lady Thatcher.

Judge her as you will, she was admired around the world. Yes, even adored by some.

And it is merely grotesque to link her memory in this way with someone like Thatcher.

But the family did not seem to care about her. Carol lives in Switzerland and Mark in America. Neither were with her when she died. They did not fly back to spend what turned out to be her last Christmas. In her last years she was looked after by paid carers and visited only by fellow Tories.

She died after suffering a stroke. Fairly sudden.
Hence them not being there when she died.
It is said that Mark made trips every month or so, to see his mum.
Carol also made regular trips, just not as often.

So she was visited by her family, friends and ex-colleagues over the last months and years. She was cared for by paid caters? So. So is my mum.

On the TOTP repeat shows all programmes that feature Jimmy Savile or Dave Lee Travis as a presenter are not shown.

She had been in poor health for some time and had suffered several mini strokes. They must have been told by Lady Thatcher's doctors that her health was increasingly fragile.

Every month or so? Hardly what you'd call a close relationship...

He lives and works abroad. He has his own family.

I live in the UK. My brother lives in the US. My sister lives in Belgium.
I would think that I see my mum much more than them.
It doesn't mean they care any less for her.

In fact, it sounds like Mark Thatcher saw his mum far more than my siblings see our mum.

There are other ways of communicating, other than flying thousands of miles to see someone in person.
Skype, e-mail, phone calls, letters, etc
