Tell me........how many 'climate change' scientists do you know who are as rich as a Texan, Russian or Saudi oil baron?
To debate the evidence surrounding man-made climate change seems sensible and we can argue our cases. To come up with complete bollocks about it all being a money-making scam is quite laughable and not worth my time.
Regardless of what either of us things regarding man-made climate change, what neither of us can deny is the fact that fossil fuel isn't limitless. It will run out. Only an idiot would think we should wait until it's all run out before we look for alternatives. You do it now.
And the less money we give dodgy Arabs who subject their populaces to lives of poverty while they live it up in golden palaces, buy up everything we hold dear, have harems of hookers in Monte Carlo and heavily influence the United Nations when it comes to international law, I think would be a bonus. And that's the bonus on top of the other little bonus we've given ourselves in saving the only planet in the solar system we can actually live on.
But hold on a minute, Jeremy Clarkson -that guy who likes to drop caravans from 20ft- has an idea..........let's all listen to him and not the people who're a bit clever and have dedicated their lives to how our climate works.
If you started shitting blood, would you call your doctor or take advice from Tony the cab driver? If you wanted to find out if that house you're buying won't fall down do you get a surveyor in or ask the local checkout assistant in Asda? Car broke down? Why not ask the pizza delivery lad to fix it instead of a mechanic? Smell gas? That little chav kid who spends his weekend smashing up bus-shelters with his mates will fix it. No need for a gas technician. You get my point, I'm sure. When it comes to the climate, all of a sudden we all know more than the experts.
Utter bollocks.

Isn't that the bloke who flies the world in his private jet lecturing people on their carbon emissions? Who lives in a house so big for the size of family he has, he consumes 17 times as much energy than he needs. Double standards of a Diane Abbot scale!

The world is cooling down ! its in the stats ! you may look at different data but even they are admitting that its all gone wrong.
Yes were running out of oil - natural oil - thats a given as tomorrow we have less than what we have today. It is also true that we have not discovered all the resources - shale ? they are saying that we have enough shale oil in an amount that exceeds what weve drawn from the north sea - do the math were not going to disappear in 300 years,
electric vehicles ? by the time you drive out the showroom with yur nice new hybrid you have already damaged the environment by driving the eqiv of around 50k again fact they showed you how the lithium is mined and processed, compared to an ordinary car its quite a pollutant.
Then driving the car - its not green yes its zero emissions but where did the electric come from that charged your battery ?
The future lies in heat recovery ? pumping into the earth to draw heat and use this to generate electricity ? What will that do to the area that you extract the heat from ? yep cool it down. and what ill that do ? contract the rocks and cause earthquakes ? who knows but they are looking into it.
Energy production balances with a negative and we need to see how to get the best deal in energy. Nuclear is still a way forward - there are those that dont like it but for baseload production it meets the need.
Nuclear trains ? yep have the reactor in one place and use that to generate electricity and then supply the train.... you dont need to have the reactor in the train !
solar power ? we have swathes of land that isnt used and we get light through the day tap that research the processes and make more efficient. wind and wave making good progress on that and should come on stream and provide some power to the grid.
Macro generation small local power stations - geo thermal solar wind and wave all contributing. ways to store power ? we need to look at how to provide energy dense storage - compressed air new battery technology heat stores even pumped water reservoirs what ever it takes but we need to get smarter with energy. An electric car that needs 3 hours or so to charge ? we need a car that can recharge in less than 10 mins. and be able to drive 300-400 miles on a charge. if we cant do that then electric cars wont be popular with anyone other than the environmentalists....
As for how long we have got ? Were off the nuclear trigger now and although there are rogue states with nukes they dont have the capacity to destroy the world. I think we will see a city someplace destroyed in the next 300 years through a rogue state but not a full out nuclear war.
Our real risk to humanity is through an extinction level event. An asteroid or the like, even a collapsing star someplace in the universe can emitt an xray beam that would destroy anything living. something of that nature is what will do us in, or closer to home yllowstone going pop.

Yep that'll be Al Gore. Futurama rips him to bits and rightly so. Cadillac De Ville anyone?

That post seems to be a long, contradictory argument with yourself. You don't need me at all!
Out of interest, I'd like a few answers to my previous questions: would you have Tony the cab driver check out your back passage if you started shitting blood or a doctor?
Would you have the chav bus-stop-smasher fix your gas leak or a heating engineer?
Again.......you get where I'm going here.

Nothing like a flippant remark to disguise the fact you actually know fuck all.

You copped out because you know where I'm going.
In just about every other instance people choose the people who know what they're doing to fix stuff or find out information. Mechanics, doctors, engineers, dentists, plumbers, builders, planners, teachers, chefs, upholsterers..........the list is endless. That's because we are getting something out of it for ourselves.
When it comes to the climate, we ignore the experts, or cherry-pick the minority who don't agree with the general consensus because the experts are telling us WE are part of the problem. It's a downer; a hindrance on our cushty lives. We make up excuses like, "but the Earth always goes through hot and cold spells!", and, "it's all a scam to get more money out of us!", and, "what good will it do when China and India are the biggest polluters?!". People think it's all manly to dismiss these nerdy guys who've dedicated their lives to the topic. You're taking no shit off them, right? Except, they know more than you..........a lot, lot more...... like your doctor knows more about that pain in your chest than you do. You think it's no-nonsense bravado but it just shows ignorance and hypocrisy.
You go running to your doctor because, as I said, you see what you're getting out of it. With the climate, you can act like an ignorant dick because the effects are long term and you might not be here when the worst of it really affects us. You're alright so fuck the experts.
It's all so transparent.
And then there's the obvious: if the nerdy types are right, we're fucked. If we listen to them and do what they say, then they turn out to be wrong, we've just inconvenienced ourselves for a while. What I'm saying is, listen to the people who know what they're talking about and if they're right, we've paid the insurance so should be ok. If they're wrong, we'll be pissed off we paid the insurance for nothing, but we're still in one piece so no harm done.
In contrast, what the Jeremy Clarksons are saying is, carry on and keep your fingers crossed. Remember that attitude next time your missus finds a lump that shouldn't be there, or your Mum rings you up to tell you she can smell gas. Tell them not to worry and carry on as normal. Those doctors and heating engineers are on the make.

So what about the research that reveals that there are significant doubts with the research - then there is the issues some of the research was tainted by ulterior motives - remember the tabacco research that said there was no problem then we see now that there is.... this is the sort of scientific mess that has resulted.
Its happening all around us people are led up the garden path on a regular basis -
going to your points we find a lump go to the doctor and he treats it - its a process full of knowns - like wise the smell of gas again process of knowns.
The global warming fisco doesnt have knowns were fumbling in the dark.
you talk a lot of sense and your points are valid in regards of having someone properly trained and experianced - this is so. if they are working with things that they fully understand.
Interplanetary dynamics is a huge undertaking - its only recently that they are finding out more about the electrical currents in the molton core that make the magnetic fields that protect us. were only scratching the surface - like wise with the doctor they are getting there but stll more die of cancer than those that survive.
