If it wasn't for the fucking work-shy, disabled, pensioners, students and immigrants then these big companies could pay even less taxes than they do now, meaning they'd probably employ more people and provide cheaper services. Well Arqiva has been in the spotlight for quite some time.

Apparently their ?1bn a year income turns into a ?250 million loss because they borrow the money from their investors e.g. investment companies and then pay them something like 14% interest and then use a whole list of other tax avoidance dodges.

Richard Murphy, one of the campaigners, said: ?Arqiva was set up to convert UK taxpayers? funds into private benefit for its shareholders.

?But not only does it do that by winning contracts to supply services previously provided by the state, it also does it by adopting a capital structure that seems to ensure that its positive operating cash flows ended up flowing offshore through a series of structured debt arrangements.?

If there can't be a crackdown on this when the government itself is one of the chief Arqiva customers, then there is little chance of the deficit as a whole disappearing.
