b. she's a paralympian, who's won many medals in both swimming and cycling.
In fact, she's that good a cyclist, she only just missed out on being part of the Olympic female pursuit team. I understand the time that she posted in Beijing, would've put her on the podium in the Olympic event.

Just try watching it for a while. You'll soon find that their disability stops registering and you just get drawn in to that particular event and in most cases, it's at least as entertaining as the able bodied sports. In certain events, it's kicked the olympic's arse for sporting entertainment.

i didn't see it but I was told that there was a men's race in which one competitor had no legs and those blade things and was competing against some others who had one leg and one blade thing. If true, they aren't at the same level and should be in separate races, which is why it's not really a true representation of sport.

If you had watched it, then you'd have had the explanation on how the classification system works.

Would you class some of the FA Cup third round matches as a true representation of sport?
e.g. Manchester City with all it's multi-million pound full time professional players, ultra modern training facilities, masses of support staff etc,etc,etc.

Non League Country Bumpkin FC, whose players, to a man, all have 'proper' jobs and don't have any facilities to speak of and train once or twice a week.

Yes they've all got the same number of limbs, no disabilities etc but they're practically galaxies apart in skill and preparation.

The odd big team will be 'giant killed' and the non-leaguers will be patronised for a week or two but we all know that they will never win the cup.

This strikes me as utter nonsense. The South African, Oscar Pistorius who is a double amputee below the knee uses two blades. As a result of a scientific investigation which found that the blades did not give an advantage over and above the able bodied he was allowed to run in the London Olympics as well as the Paralympics.

So on the basis that Pistorius was viewed to have no advantage from the blades there is no reason why he shouldn't run against other athletes with one or two blades in the Paralympics.

I assume Steve R that you are perfectly formed and can compete against similar?Personally some of these people are an inspiration and well worth watching every four years.Also it is real life and being well televised.Your reasons are largely without merit.
