Congrats to Di Matteo, I hope this goes half way to getting him the job on a permanent basis. And cue 30 years of moaning from Scousers about the lack of goal line technology!!

Do you need to go down to the pub to watch ITV?

But that's the point, season was over, FA Cup was the finale, and regardless of who was playing, it had a magic appeal. The FA have ruined all that, so now the only people who give a shit are the fans of either side involved, cos there's still so much at stake for all the other teams. IMO, we should go back to this being the final match of the domestic season

No moaning from my end, the back of the ball wasn't over, we were beaten fair and square.

The ITV audience peaked at 11.21 million viewers with 400,000 also watching on ESPN.

I seem to recall that for years the Prime Minister attended the FA Cup final every year. Doesn't happen now.

I suspect that Grendl's point was that not so much that noboby watches it, but rather that it's now lost much of its luster and is nowadays pretty much "just another game" as far as most neutrals are concerned.
In any case, 11.2 million is way down on Cup Final viewing figures in the '70s and '80s, which used to be up in the 20 to 30 million bracket every year. And last year only about 8 million tuned in.
