Yes its the new advert on telly where a woman goes outside of her house to smoke and they depict plumes of smoke stlll pouring through the gaps in the doors and poisoning her child.

The prognosis of all this being an attempt in time to outlaw smoking in total. All i am saying is that the anti-smoking hysterics and kill joys have got their way now with smoking being banned virtually everywhere, so why don't they fuck off and leave the handful of smokers left to enjoy a quiet fag on their own?

Or do something more contructive and useful and campaign against all the other carcinogens that we are bombarded with on a daily basis, but of course this wouldn't involve bullying and finger wagging a small section of society, in fact smokers are the only minority that it is both legal and encouraged to villify and insult!

What would they have done during the war? I remember seeing a pic in the Blitz with 2 stretcher bearers having a fag and the patient as well! Everyone smoked, everywhere. Personally, I think the real motive behind this continuing persecution is that the anti smoking lobby has always hated seeing those little group huddled outside pubs and offices, smoking and laughing. They hate the fact that all the picking up goes on outside the pubs these days, with people puffing on fags. These zeolots will not rest until ALL smoking has been crushed!!adolf!

Really is utter rubbish
I am smoker i have two children who are 100% healthy my parents smoked and there parents to. everyone in my family has lived to at least 89.
Yes there is dangers with smoking but so is there with drinking, why is Alcohol not locked behing a cabinit you cant see. Or bottles of wine plastered with health warning, how about a nice picture of someone on there with kidney failure or liver diesese or a picture of some one run over from drink driving or some one beaten up by a drunk sat night lun.
im sure if they did started attacking alcohol in this way you would all start complaining.
Ask yourself this how many people do you know where on there death certificate it says they died from second hand smoke, because i dont know anyone, however if you asked me how many people i know affected by alcohol related issues i could name 100's fights, drink drive, lost the driving liscense in a+e through to much drink or ended up dead .I myself got glassed by some pissed girl last year.
Rant over
emma have a great weekend x x

So because you can find a family who smoked and live to 89, the millions who died from lung cancer in their 40s and 50s don't count for anything? I grew up down the road from a milkman who, on Sundays, would go to the pub, get pissed and drive home even though he could hardly walk. Never had a single accident. Shall we bring back drink-driving due to this fact?

And no, your children aren't 100% healthy. There's no such thing. There are just expected, acceptable ranges of health.

Well said Emma! Alchahol is the real enemy, every town centre in the UK on a Saturday night is blighted by drunken louts. Police forces spend most of their time separating drunks and intervening in domestic disputes and violence all caused by excessive drinking. The NHS is groaning under the weight of drink related illness and injury.

But as you say, why isn't drink hidden behind locked cupboards? The truth is that the anti-smoking jackboot brigade simply don't know how to attack the drinkers....yet! What they'd really like to do is ban all alchoholic beverages, apart from fine wines and expensive Champagne and confine all drinking within areas populated by social groups A & B's.

But this would expose them for what they are, elitist metrosexual fascists! Smokers are an easy target for them to bully and persecute.

But there are already rules and regulations surrounding alcohol consumption. One has to be older to drink. One needs a licence to sell alcohol. One can have alcohol confiscated by police in certain public places unlike cigarettes. One can be arrested for drinking too much alcohol, unlike smoking.

Whether such regulation is hard enough is a different debate. I personally think that the biggest problem with alcohol is how cheap it's become in supermarkets. Cheap lager in these places is cheaper than bottled water. That can't be right.

I'm not sure that the best way to defend a position is by an all out attack on others, especially by highlighting the behaviour of the same minority of drinkers who repeat that behaviour every week end.

The millions of people who drink responsibility will perhaps not find such arguments attracts them to your cause.

No, A&E cannot help much with the many cancers smoking significantly increases the risk of.

My mother and both of my brothers died in their mid to late 60's due to smoking. I am a former smoker but I stopped in 1984 and I have never missed it, not even for one day.
It is an awakening when you become an ex smoker. You realise just how ignorant and uncaring you were to others. My elder brother cared not one iota that I didn't allow smoking in my car. He would just flash up anyway. He would then start an argument when I would stop the car and chuck him out. He stopped 4 months before he died in 2000. Too late by then of course.
Same with drinkers. I used to do a lot of bar work for extra spending money as a young squaddie and by working behind a bar, even top class ones, you would see how ignorant people are when they've had a couple of pints or G&T's. To this day I am never rude to bar staff and if they are good at the job I will offer them a drink. But never abuse them. Their job is hard enough as it is without rude drunks.
