If companies;
# Published an email address, instead of limiting text contact to their on-line form;
# Did not refuse to open MS word attachments;
# Published their fax numbers
,we could cut out snail mail altogether for letters.
OTOH, many modern companies seem to view customers not as people, but as a business asset, and regard communication with them as an expensive liability which must be discouraged.
