The ipad does not like external inputs period! If you have the official connector you can insert your SD card sith pics on it and import them, but if you've got a movie file, forget it.

I got one of my trailers onto my ipad by exporting the massive file from my laptop via QT conversion to Apple TV and then using Itunes to make the transfer to Ipad, the result is brilliant!

By the way, I have all the players on Ipad and all of them refuse to play an HD file downloaded from the internet. They just splutter and then stop. Lo res plays fine on Azul.

Download Handbrake to convert your movie files.

Simply click on the source, set a destination, select the iPad preset, and let it do its work.

Get the files in iTunes, sync from there.

Handbrake is free, and PC/mac

I can't find Handbrake for Ipad on the App Store, is it available somewhere else?

I'll second that with the handbrake idea, I find the ipad no problem I know some try to avoid using itunes with connection kit but itunes works very well. But an app I have being using is 'Transfer' which I use with my iphone to transfer video and photo's by either blue tooth or wifi, works really well and then edit photo's quickly using the app filterstorm on the ipad.

Here is a filterstorm review, it is a great app for picture editing,
