Knox's parents have spent a mint to get PR for her - which has succeeded undoubtedly.
I hope this doesn't work.

Knox and Sollecito have been cleared of the murder charge

Knox has to pay financial compensation to Patrick Lumumba, the bar owner who she initially blamed for the killing.

She is out..

Just seen it on the news, and there is the standard non-objectivity by the TV media. They use terms like 'unsafe' knowing very well that Joe Bloggs in the street will interpret this as 'innocent'. She may well have done it, but there are a few holes in the case here and there. We get the standard stuff from the TV media about how 'her family always said she was innocent and were confident of an aquital'. This makes John Q Sixpack feel even more that it was a total miscarriage of justice and that she is completely innocent. How nieve are these journalists? What else did they think the family of the girl in jail would say? What are the bets that after all the millions of dollars this girl will make over coming years and decades, she makes a death-bed confession when she is really old: 'actually, I did it". But that don't matter. In this mass media world all that matters are ratings and the Court system is largely about entertaiment. This girl is now a star!

I'm sure all sensible people know max_tranmere well enough to ignore his silly ramblings. People like Zorro and BARNABY can be ignored too, as such people don't base their views on EVIDENCE but on their own prejudices.

The facts in this case were fairly simple. The victim was sexually assaulted and murdered by someone who was fairly soon apprehended, mainly because he left evidence all over the place which incriminated him. He was jailed after fast track court proceedings and there the matter should have ended. Unfortunately highly controversial prosecutor Giuliano Mignini dreamt up a fantastic conspiracy theory, dragging in 2 other people, alleging that a wild sex game had taken place, despite their not being a single shred of evidence to support the idea. He asked the police to look for forensic evidence that these 2 other people were involved, but unfortunately the police made 54 errors in trying to build a forensic case against them and the forensic evidence they managed to compile was ultimately rejected as worthless.

So what in the end did the court have before them? No evidence of motive, no forensic evidence, in fact nothing that amounted to anything at all. Acquittal was inevitable.

It's interesting that Kyle Richmond implies that she should have been convicted because she comes from a wealthy family, but as I've already remarked some people don't form their opinions on the basis of EVIDENCE but on their own prejudices.

I'm sure even max_tranmere himself would agree that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but his comment that "there are a few holes in the case here and there" should go down in history as one of the greatest understatements ever.

'Acquittal was inevitable'. Maybe so, but was it right?

'Unsafe' can mean they are not certain she did it, but not totally sure she didn't. The average Joe in the street interprets this as 'totally innocent'. I think it is in very bad taste that she will now earn millions of dollars on TV and in print. People seem to be caring very little about the victim and her family in all this.

On the contrary, I am criticising your average tabloid reader/Jeremy Kyle watcher in all this. The gullible masses who would interpret 'unsafe' as meaning 100% innocent, when it could mean they are reasonably sure she did it but not certain. I must say your comment there oej is something rather daft, I would expect it from JamesW but not from you.
