The only way this will be won is by superiority in numbers and brute force. All the police seemed to be armed with is riot shields and not much else.

I've been in riots and I fully support the shooting of identified ringleaders.
This has always been the difference between our Army's way of controling riots as opposed to other nations. The British Army always had a ringleader recognised and he was the one that was ordered to be taken out. That usualy dispersed the mob.
All we were allowed to use in Belfast and Londonderry was water cannon and baton rounds, even though we all carried our personal rifles.
They usually sufficed, but the lawless morons running amok now need to be culled. Society has no need of these bastards, and the sooner they are removed the better society will be.
Don't waste your time calling me all the names under the sun regarding culling feral bastards I won't change my view. I've had them too long to care about metrosexual dogooders.

Shooting them (however tempting) is not the answer - certainly not with 'lethal' intent - there are a number of alternatives - the old NI fav of the 'rubber bullet' or whatever the modern version is called, tazers perhaps or just ' give the police some freedom of expression' in the use of the ol Pick axe handle'.... . the last thing we need is the possibility of innocent people being accidently shot or killed by a stray round - make the rioters and looters sorry they were ever born yes, kill them no.

Someone mentioned the use of the water cannon - good idea, especially if combined with the same 'blue' ink that they use in security bags etc - would make finding the little darlings a lot easier.

at the very least, these people need to be caught and made to help clean up/rebuild and anything else they can be used for to help the community's they have fucked up with their bravado.

Water cannon is a brilliant way of demoralising a group of rioters. It doesn't work so well on groups of political demonstrators with a valid greivance, but it would work a treat on these thieving scumbags, who simply can't cope with any kind of discomfort to themselves or their clothes!

The question is whether or not the scum will be able to claim for "Compo" if they are injured either by a police assault or by water cannon?

I think the government will have to issue a curfew or some kind of dispersal order before these measures are brought in.

As Turan states correctly, I dont think Britain has water cannon and they have never used them on the mainland. They use them in Northern Ireland but there are a few local difficulties there for which they would be needed. I dont see how they would be effective in an area with lots of lanes and side streets for people to disappear into.

Anyway Jimbo in the interests of community and the Big Society I have stated that I am prepared to make my B&Q hosepipe available!!

I suspect Cameron has a PR issue with using stuff that has not been used before on the mainland like water cannon, plastic bullets etc. because he is worried that people will point out that things got out of control to the point that blah blah blah had to be used.

He has got the capability to use CS gas which was used in the Toxteth riots.

executing rioters out of hand is a bit extreme...Oh, I like the new jurassic

bloody business what I was doing on the streets of Budapest in a riot
(at least Hungarians riot against a corrupt government and not just an
