Has absolutely nothing to do with Politics David.
Pond life out on a jolly using it for an excuse.
Half 'the kids' should have been in bed = bad parenting = nothing to do with politics.
Police presence is so quickly defined as kettling = an excuse (for some) to riot = light handed approach until absolutely necessary = 'politics' possibly but of probably the worse kind.
Robbing looting and arson done for selfish purposes = fuck all to with anything related to the death and most certainly nothing to do with politics.
IF Politics does come into it then it does relate to cuts, especially to the Police but if we seek to exploit that road and I've no doubt some lovies will then there is a very real danger that the Scum taking part in criminal acts become justified (even if the opening line is events can't be justified) and they never can be.

"The Police are going to walk on egg-shells around the black community to an even greater extent following this riot last night than they previously did. "
This is nonsense.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/law/2010/jun/ ... rch-police
The key points in the article are:
"The number of black and Asian people stopped and searched by the police has increased by more than 70% over the past five years, according to Ministry of Justice figures.
They show that more than 310,000 black and Asian people were searched by the police on the streets in 2008/09, compared with 178,000 in 2004/05.
The annual statistics on race and the criminal justice system reveal that black people are now seven times more likely to be stopped by the police than white people. This is a higher stop and search ratio than that recorded before the publication in 1999 of the inquiry report into the murder of the black teenager Stephen Lawrence."
Hardly politically correct policing resulting from the Stephen Lawrence enquiry and the police walking on eggshells, Max if the number of stop and searches has gone up hugely.
"The Police are going to walk on egg-shells around the black community to an even greater extent following this riot last night than they previously did. "
This is more nonsense. There has been condemnation from all quarters and all communities of the looting and arson that took place last night. The main criticism has been that the police did not do enough to prevent these activities.
Cheers

Re: Loads of issues here
What could the police do? If they had gone into went into action you would have had have every rent a community worker saying how the police where being heavy handed "cos they is black"
Instead you now have them slagging off the ploice for not doing enough.
And as for the peaceful prtoest which was the start of all this was onbehlaf of a scumbag whose parents should be ashamed to have had/or how they turned a blind eye to what he did and yet have the cheek to blame the police.

David...
Hello David,
It must be a co-incidence then that street crime has shot up a lot since high profile things like the Stephen Lawrence debacle and so on. Since the Stephen Lawrence enquiry the police have had 'integrity tests' on a regular basis and there are departments at the Met decidated to ridding the Force (sorry 'Service' as the Labour government renamed it) of its 'institutionalised racism'. I recall Lord Macpherson, who did the enquiry into how the Police messed up the investigation into the Lawrence murder, saying that racism means whatever anybody wants it to mean. I also remember in the late-90s and early-2000's headlines on the Evening Standard newspaper in London saying things like 'huge rise in street crime', 'street crime up fivefold on two years ago' and so on.

I f you lived in Tottenham like i did til a while back you will know what the police are like. They TARGET black people, because they DISLIKE black people. This builds up resentment. Add to that the destruction of vital services due to this shit govt and you have a toxic mix. 80s revisited, not thatcherism but cameronism.

You miss the point. I am not talking about a DIRECT link to politics in terms of rioting about a specific law or policy introduced by the government of the day.
Lots of riots under the Tory governments, relatively few under the Labour governments of the last 30 years. Many of them not related to a specific Tory law or policy.
Why is that, do you think?
Cheers

Re: Max
Max,
You obviously cannot explain how your theory of the police going easy on black crime equates to a 70% increase of stop and searches of black and Asian youth in London and the setting up of Operation Trident looking at black on black crime.
Cheers

Re: Loads of issues here
Considering the local black community have a nasty habit of shooting each other and other asorted crimes maybe its sometihng to do with trying to target groups more likely to be offending.
