I've recently updated some XP & Vista computers to IE9, worst bloody mistake ever. Vista would NOT boot past login following a reboot, & XP Style/Theme was completely screwed up, like old '95, half the drivers wouldn't load & other such. Soon as I uninstalled IE9, started working perfect again.
DO NOT trust IE, EVER.

Have you checked for Virus/Trojan/Work etc?

You have a lot more options than the ones that have the biggest profile and make the most noise about how good they are
Only ones not listed that might be of interest
Palemoon(firefox optomised for windows
S R Ware iron(CHROME minus its privacy concerns)
Comodo dragon(another based on chromium)with a built in sandbox
