Would you believe Philip Green if he made a similar argument about living in Monaco because it's strategically sited in terms of his supply chain ?

Can I just say Jonone that you are being awfully nasty about Philip Green.

There are some that say putting the vast majority of the Topshop and BHS business in his wife's name and moving the little dear to Monaco where no tax is due on the huge dividends she is paid, is pure tax avoidance.

As for me, I think it is another example of a caring individual helping his better half to reach her true potential.

And I also note that you make absolutely no mention of those Topshop workers who pay every penny of the tax due on their earnings. Ok, admittedly, the vast majority of them are on little better than the minimum wage, but come on, someone has to pay tax, don't they?

And isn't that the main purpose of the little peoples' role in life?

When I have a free moment, I'll drop a note to Dave C to ask him about Philip's exciting ideas about making government savings that came from his period of government consultancy.

It's very easy to carp from the sidelines, Jonone. Much harder to be a successful billionaire.

It's about time, people like yourself knew your place in society.

The difference is that Flintoff NO LONGER LIVES IN DUBAI!!!! He only lived there a few years during that period of time when he retired from Test cricket and when he finally gave up all hope of playing the game at all even at T20 level. He now lives in Surrey where he pays his tax like anyone else.

Philip Green, on the other hand, placed his companies in his wife's name, who lives in Monaco, where she pays no tax on the hundreds of millions she "earns"

But Bob...

Andrew... or Freddy if you want to join the rest of them.... received in the years he was in Dubai approx 4 million quid from the two seasons he played in the IPL.... NONE of that was taxed in the UK... (10% Dubai income tax rate would have to be paid)..when he returned to Surrey as you mention, that money cannot be taxed again .... so he did avoid UK tax at 40% on that income.... over a million quid... that could have kept some nice council workers in a job for a little while longer!

But hey lets still treat sports stars as above the rest from making their contribution to society.... can't knock them... lets keep bashing everyone else....

Phil Green his businesses pays millions in tax, keep thousands in work and the public love the products... enough said!

If Freddie is not living in this country, then why should he pay tax on his earnings when he is away. How fucking greedy is that. You have a British passport, so we are going to tax you whereever you are in the world, come on guys, think about it.

If he wants to live abroad and avoid tax, thats up to him, his loss is he is living abroad. Some like it, me I'd rather sit in my beautiful England and pay my 40% at least I still get 60% and I get to live here.

"how fucking greedy is that".... use some sense PLEASE...

In your world it would be a case ....come on get real..... to stop paying UK tax you have to live away for 5 years and NOT spend any more than 150 days in the UK... sell any assets in the UK and even resign from any clubs you're member of i.e. golf club...

AND most if not all countries enforce this type of law to stop avoidance
