Bono is a very publicly accessible guy for someone that numerous people appear to want to harm. In spite of having security at his Dublin mansion he apparently walks around his home city and chats to anyone who approaches him and is regularly seen in pubs and shops. He and the rest of U2 will always talk to their fans in the street after gigs aswell. I remember him saying in an interview: "I get threats from people who want to kill me and I get people who want to steal my y-fronts from my washing line. It's a funny old world."

I like Bono. He is confident in his abilities and a talented chap. I could drink a beer with him.
'How they died' list

It's on a god-botherer site, presumably trying to illustrate the evils of the devil's music, but it is quite a good list of premature deaths of music figures, and not just by foul play.
It lists 18 murders, but only 6 by my reckoning were likely to be clear cut premeditated murder; Barrat Carlton (Wailers), Robert Johnson, Sam Cooke, John Lennon, Notorious BIG, and Tupac. The rest appear to be either during fights, robberies or at the hand of a relative during an argument.

It's not a rigged list but Jerry Nolan is on there and Arthur 'Killer' Kane isn't.

"What are the defining features of an assassination as opposed to a shooting ?"
An assassination is the murder of a public figure for political, religious or ideological reasons, rather than for some personal reason such as an act of revenge, a part of a feud or dispute with that person or associates of that person, a personal hatred of the victim or for simple financial gain.

Me too, Terry. Don't really get the hate for him - his main crime appears to be wanting to help poor people. What a bastard!
As for the film, meh, whatever. If someone wants to assassinate a famous person, they'll find the way to do it. Blaming a daft film title is as counter-productive as blaming video nasties or Marilyn Manson for the Columbine shootings.
