Bullying seems to be monitered a lot more now than it was, there are anti bullying helplines and schools have anti bullying schemes which help the kids who are being picked on. When I was at school in the 1970s and 80s there was nothing like that, it was the law of the jungle and there was no one you could turn to. Grassing, being a snitch, 'sneeking', or whatever who want to call it, was a complete no no - you just did not do it - so you had to put up with being bullied. I've never understood why telling on the bully is more frowned upon than the act of bullying itself. It's as odd as saying that the victim in a street mugging is worse than the mugger if he reports it (?). That was the logic at my school. You just did not tell. Kids seem to have it better these days as there are mechanisms to help them.

It's a kind of Stockholm Syndrome .. you're supposed to 'love' the people who are oppressing you and protect them. Bull-shit !

I was only ever bullied by one particular kid who was Dutch and about 6 foot 4 by the time he was 14. He was so full of himself and would talk over the top of everyone else telling them that he was going to be a big-shot engineer or scientist and would only ever marry an absolute babe. If you didn't laugh at his wet jokes, you'd get a thumping.

I remembered all this. The last time I saw him, he was driving a dump truck and his wife is a fat shrieking pig who yells at him the same way he did to me and finally I thought his jokes were quite funny.

I can just imagine good on the kid who fought back
