I prefer Sagan too, but maybe that's just nostalgia talking. Also, Brian Cox would agree with you totally given than he admits it was Sagan who first got him interested in science. He's a big fan.
I still think you're being harsh, though. Carl Sagan's dead so someone else needs to pick up the baton and run with it. He's as good a candidate as anyone else of this generation. We're not going to get Sir Patrick Moore up mountains and traversing deserts, are we? Not unless you're interested in finishing him off!
