And if you still don't get it, Eric

Read this from Margaret Eaton, the former TORY leader of Bradford Council, now the chair of the Local Government Association

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... t-services

Sample quote

"Pickles says he does not "believe for one moment" that the scale of spending cuts will mean big cutbacks. But some authorities have seen a reduction in the grant they receive from government of 17% next year. To suggest this will not have any impact on services is detached from the reality councils are dealing with as they set their budgets"

Be that as it may, it in no way negates the charge that some *Labour* councils are trying to make politicial capital by cynically slashing front-line services.

"TORY councillors elsewhere have voiced similar criticism>>>

You reply
"Be that as it may, it in no way negates the charge that some *Labour* councils are trying to make politicial capital by cynically slashing front-line services".

It totally undermines it. Obviously... So you have a large city, Manchester which announces 2000 job cuts and cuts to front line job services. And you have another large city, Birmingham which announces 2000 job cuts and cuts to front line job services.

So if some Labour councils are "cynically slashing front-line services" it would appear that Tory and Lib Dem councils running similar large cities are operating in exactly the same way.

Maybe Flat Eric, you know a lot more about running a council, than the Labour leader of Manchester, the Tory/Lib Dem leader of Birmingham, Richard Kemp the LIB DEM group leader on the LGA and the TORY chair of the Local Government Association, . I really, really doubt it, somehow. They all agree with each other and disagree with you.

Your point is destroyed!!
