No. I have a number of criticisms of Brown, similar to the ones that apply to Blair. He voted in favour of the Iraq war. He did next to nothing to regulate the City. Brown did very little to support areas like manufacturing. He had far too big a dependence on the banking sector and he did nothing to roll back the over-zealous approach to limiting civil liberties.

I am not sure if the independent Institute of Fiscal Studies, much quoted by the Tories and Lib Dems when in opposition, entirely agrees with your analysis.

""the ones who will in fact be hit hard are the hard working low paid people"

I understand what you are saying, but your reply was in response to Ravis' above comment, implying that he was wrong.

THe point that I am making is that the IFS took ALL the measures in the Emergency Budget and Spending Review into account to come up with the belief outlined in the links that I provided i.e. that Ravis is correct - the hard working low paid people are hit hard.

This happened many years ago David but the Daily Mail once refused to print an article criticizing the UK general strike of 1926. Here's the link:-

It wasn't the Daily Mail that refused to print the piece, it was the printers; a very different matter.
