Even though he got 2 yrs 8 mnths he'll be out in 1 yr 4 mnths. I read today the Government are closing 3 prisons, so in future years they may not send people down for many of the things they presently do. How they can shut three jails when there already were not enough places for those committing crimes, I think is disgraceful.

His ring will be currency in the nick mind you...

According to the BBC news today a government statement re the jail closures was because there are 800 unfilled vacancies in the prison system.
So closing some jails will solve the defecit problem.

In Brunei we were allowed to helpourselves to produce that grew by the roadside. On one beach barbeque that we had my mate went into a pineapple plantation and picked the biggest one he could find. It was 18 inches high and 10 inches round.
You don't see them here as all the big ones go to the canners. It was fucking lovely and so big we had to give some to our mortal enemies the Signals Troop who were in the same camp. Saved throwing it away I suppose.

I am not suggesting Ken Clark said this but in essence that is what is happening.

Not a very good slogan for a Tory Justice Minister is it? i.e. we cut back on the number of prisons, have huge reductions in police funding and do away with short sentences and at the same time we throw away the support line for a lot of young kids in terms of potential job opportunities/support etc.

I would bring back Michael Howard as HS. He has been proved right many times since he was the HS and later Tory leader. I dunno where he is now. Has he been elevated to the big House?
