Its a great track to hear at a beach bar in Ibiza with the sun setting, when you are having a snifter to start the weekend.

I bought the Band of Joy album off the back of a live performance on the tele. A bit disappointed to be honest with the album because it didnt focus on the excellent band members on the CD to the same extent that the concert did.

But this is one of the standout tracks on the CD.

The Sun's Gone Dim And The Sky's Turned Black - Johann Johannsson.

From his terrific IBM 1401 a User's Manual album (2006). What a great surprise finding it used to such great effect in the Battle: Los Angeles trailer:

As someone who spends a fair bit of time photographing gigs, I've heard plenty of live music this year. Some of the stand-out performances include Voodoo Johnson at the Bulldog Bash, The Jokers at The Hope & Anchor, Islington, The Scaramanga Six somewhere in Sheffield, Black Manalishi in Warrington, Skunk Anansie at The O2 Academy, Islington, Punishment of Luxury at The Underworld, Camden, Breed 77 at various locations on their UK tour, as well as their Bulldog Bash set, St Jude at The Scala, Kings Cross and Thea Ford at Monto Water Rats.

For a really cheesy but superbly entertaining evening, an honourable mention should also go to Captain Sensible, Jona Lewie and The Glitter Band for their Christmas gig at Dingwalls.

However, two names to watch out for in 2011, who have produced superb music this last year and deserve to start getting more recognition are Anna Calvi and iMMa (aka Erika Footman)

Anna Calvi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMtz1d0ruAk

iMMa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_8pfzX2ikA

Both of these songs (and others by those artists) have been played to death on the iPod hooked up to my car stereo, so these are my nominations as the best tracks I heard in 2010

Probably the most original band I've heard this year.

Really like these. The guy in the hat in the B.o.B. video has a great, great voice.
