The government's lobby fodder probably wouldn't have examined it with too much energy if he had, and would have passed it pretty much as was intended.

If I was Assange I would be very worried that I am facing life and no parole in a supermax American jail. His "trial" will be a farce. So much for Obama's more liberal America..

Its not so much the liberal angle that concerns me in this case, its the promises for more transparency in the government's dealings with the American people and the rest of the world, something they are always demanding of countries like China and Iran. Well Wikileaks have only done what Obama promised.
On another issue, if I had been about to facilitate the release of many thousands of embarrassing diplomatic cables that would be very likely to annoy a lot of governments, I think I might have kept my dick in my trousers for a while just in case there was any chance of legal blowback, as they say.

Some would say that Obama is a cunt. But as cunts are usefull that is the last phrase I would use of that useless two faced egotistical fucking arsehole. America has what it deserves. They voted for the twatt.

Having lived in the UK for 20 years now, I still fail to understand what particular form of wrong-doing/thinking/speaking/looking qualifies anyone for that insult. In other words: what does that insult actually mean? It baffles me. I have asked that question on previous occasions, and never got a reply.

That's what I thought when they voted (well, kind of) for the previous incumbent. Problem was: that dimwit and his gang did do damage way beyond America.

"Cunt" is defined thus (Collins English dictionary):
cunt n. taboo: 1. The female genitals. 2. Offensive slang: A woman considered sexually. 3. Offensive slang: A mean or obnoxious person. (C13: of Germanic origin: Related to Old Norse 'kunta', Middle Low German 'kunte').

I think the reason 'cunt' is an insult is because of its shock value, it is one of the worst words you can say and certain people still have a very stunned and strong reaction to it as a result. Sure it has been desensorsised over the years especially through using it in porn as a desriptive word but growing up that was the word you didnt even use with your friends. Plus sound it out its a very harsh sounding word with a hard c and blunt t finish.
When I frst started in porn I got told off for callig my pussy a vagina and not a cunt - 'we are not doing a pissing biology video' and it honestly took me time to get used to saying it. Thats one of the reasons new girls are so good to watch, they still blush when they say it which makes the whole thing so much more naughty and forbidden. x

Wow, a first! Thanks, Eric!

Well, I actually do own a dictionary myself (shock! horror!), but it's my general impression that dictionaries mostly fail to capture the true meaning of slang in general, and insults in particular. As it does here: I mean: "cunt" is regarded as one of the stronger insults in the slang repertoire, but if it just means "mean" or "obnoxious" (or in posh terms: "disagreeable"; incidentally, my dictionary offers "stupid" or "unpleasant") then the word does not deserve its reputation and I can see why RoddersUK was unhappy with the insultation strength of this term...
I would therefore offer an entirely new slang word to the English language, together with its meaning, to offer something new of sufficient strength to provide the ultimate insult.
The new word is: TELP
Its meaning:
- telps are egocentric and power-hungry
- telps are stupid, but not stupid enough not to be deceitful
- telps practice witchcraft; yes, true witchcraft does not exist, but a telp is stupid enough not to know that
- telps cheat at scrabble
- if telps play cricket then only either as part of their general strategy of putting up a facade to hide their deceitfulness, or because they are actively involved in dishonest betting activities
- telps are cruel psychopaths, and potential murders and war criminals when given the chance
- a telp's religious beliefs are a collection of contradictions that only serve to justify his multitude of awful behaviours, which also includes his sexual shenanigans
- ...such as sex with children and corpses and animals and other close relatives even though telps usually manage to keep this quiet
- telps are harmful to the community, to their country, to the human race, to mammals, to life on Earth
- we despise telps so much we want them dead, but we don't want them dying a quick painless death; just about right for a telp would be to be bitten by a Komodo dragon, and die of the subsequent blood poisoning
- speaking of which: we generally prefer inter-species sex with a Komodo dragon over sex with a telp
Telps are quite rare though - it's a special insult after all. Still, I think Erich Fritzl might qualify as a telp.

Yes, I realise that, but shock value does not fully explain it.
For instance, 'nigger' has similar shock value, but it almost always fails to work as an insult, because it retains some original meaning in its insult form,
and consequently it utterly fails as an insult against non-blacks, and as an insult against blacks it only serves to single yourself out as a racist. [Having said that, I would actually defend Big Ron's famous use of the term against Desailly as a proper strong individual insult - as opposed to mere indiscriminatory racist abuse, but that's another story.]
The corresponding thing would be if 'cunt' really only applied as an insult against women (perhaps suggesting improper sexual conduct), but would at the same time single out the user of the term as misogynist. It does not work like that though.
