My goose-stepping, toothbrush-moustached right-wing views are perfectly well balanced and anyone who disagrees with me is, by definition, wrong.
Oh, and don't called them "dole scroungers" - they are merely resting between jobs.
Is heated political debate pointless on BGAFD?

Yes
It is and always has been.

In fairness David, you did exactly the same thing just recently.
In fact - instead of just fucking quietly off like most ordinary folk would do - some weeks ago you saw fit to make a grand public announcement that you were departing this forum until next January for whatever reasons it was that you gave.
And yet you were back posting merrily away again within a matter of days.

I have many heated political debates with people outside of this forum... the difference is that, unlike many here (Max Tranmere, Dick Moby, Deano etc), those people are at least informed and educated, and don't just repeat what they've heard on Sky News, read in their latest copy of the Daily Mail or in the BNP newsletter they subscribe to.
"But how to make Liverpool economically prosperous? If only there was some way for Liverpudlians to profit from going on and on about the past in a whiny voice."

No comparison whatsoever, Eric
1. Jim posted on the forum saying that he was stopping political dialogue because it was all bollocks.
2. After about 2 days he was back at it.
3. About a week later he said exactly the same in this thread i.e politically pointless.
4. This is why Andy made the post he did in this thread.
1. I said I was taking a break from the forum at the beginning of November. No reason other than I had some other stuff I had to concentrate on which had tight deadlines.
2. In November after my message I posted about three times in total.
3. Ive finished the project I was working on.
Jim is entitled to do what he wants as I am. But there is no comparison between the circumstances at all as far as I can see.
Cheers

Very good, Deano. I always thought you were a left wing nutter at heart, but in denial of your true feelings!

Re: Is heated political debate pointless on BGAFD?
Not quite the way I look at the bgafd/egafd O/T forum:
it tends to be more common that right-wing nutters regularly start a debate about these horrible immigrants/French fishermen/Eurocrats/muslims/insert-your-favourite-right-wing-target-here, and politically inclined people on the other side of the spectrum feel the duty to counter the argument, and a lot of mud-slinging ensues. Proper debates are more noticeable by their absence.
The overall impression is that of red deer during the mating season: who shouts loudest wins control over the battlefield.
...which seems to be the whole purpose of the exercise: i.e. to suggest to the non-participating gullible by-stander what the political agenda of the day might be.

Randyandy
Hi,
I was going to suggest that we all just talked about football, but then I remembered your inner pain.
Almost half way through the season and the mighty Tangerines are mid-table with a game in hand.
Great eh?
Cheers

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm that would be NO!!! NO !!! and damn FUCKING NO!!! lol
Football is something we've decided not to talk about until Mr Ferguson Jnr has been removed.
Unfortunately I suspect it will be when we are in League 1.
Must admit though I liked the ice excuse used to stop the Lashers getting a severe thumping by Man U, perhaps we could use it for the rest of the season.

A joke for you
Ok, not wishing to increase your pain, I wont mention football.
In an attempt to cheer you up, here's a joke about Blackpool.
A Blackpool bloke goes on holiday to New York. Unfortunately it coincides with the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers.
After a couple of days he goes down to the site of the disaster and gets talking to the firemen. He says how impressed he is by the work they've done.
After chatting for awhile the fireman asks him where he's from. "Blackpool".
"I've never been to Blackpool. What state's it in?"
The Blackpool bloke glances around and says "Pretty much the same as this one"
Well it made me laugh anyway.
Cheers
