Why would their relationships with their family be disturbed by the truth. I'm not being facetious when I ask that. I just see a certain inconstistency when people regard what they do as a normal career yet are not terribly open about it. If the person was a plumber, an airline pilot, or an accountant they would have no hesitancy telling their folks, yet many hesitate to tell their folks if they do porn. It suggests that many do not see it as a 'normal career'. I am making no judgements about porn here, I am into porn (obviously) like everyone who posts on here. If a male or female pornstar lived next door to me and we became buddies I would view them like I view anyone else involved in any profession. I just find the inconsistency something worthy of discussion - the secrecy that many have about what they do sort of suggests they don't regard it as admirable, otherwise why the secrecy? Porn being a bad thing is not a view I hold, but some of the participants imply, through their actions, that maybe they do.

because by seeking the answer it is obviouslty something that is on your mind as well.
A lotof the girls in this business a long time dont dwell on such questions. They knew what they were doing is going to be seen by men
Anyone who thinks they can keep it a secret is obviously misinformed.
If secrecy was a consideration then they would opt for escorting instead.

Come into the real world Max.
The reason porn stars do not want their family to know is generally not because they are ashamed of what they do, rather because society, the media, the church and most individuals have set up a ring fence around the most natural of human desires and anyone who steps outside that fence and demonstrates a willingness to depict the sexual act for public consumption leaves themselves open to censure and being reviled, regardless of the fact that millions (including a vast range of people who censure and revile) use the product of their depictions.
Worse, the media and certain groups have, over the years, linked depiction of sex to violence as in the late and not lamented Mary Whitehouse's well worn and totally misleading constant tirade against "the tide of filth, sex and violence" and this has been extended in the vast percentage of minds to link main stream porn with abuse, paedophilia and even, at one stage, snuff movies.
Sure there are always cases where the worse fears of society can be seen to be linked with extreme porn, but society has been conditioned not to differentiate between depictions of solo masturbation/two person sex/consensual mild fetishism and depiction of the more extreme acts of sexual violence and abuse which most performers would never entertain and few actually buy or access.
No wonder performers are selective about what they reveal about their work with so much two facedness and false linkages.

And theres a growing number of girl like cate with parents who know and I think its for the best that the parents know.
I know the mother of a known name here and another in europe and when they know that the people their daughter knows are nice normal folk they feel a lot better their sons and daughters doing porn
There comes a time when every parent knows their child has grown up and able to make the decisions for their own career paths
