Its not the Govt, its the fucking doctors themselves. Seeing patients takes time out of their golf.
Don`t know about the rest of the country but here you`re fucked if you want a call out, you have to make an apointment for two days in advance. Some fun times have included
After waking in the night not being able to breathe, gasping for breathe like maybe an asthmatic I went to see the doctor, who sat there hardly listening to what I was saying and not evening bothering to pretend to be interested. His attitude was like "what do you me to do?" . It was the nurse who eventually reassured me it was either apnea or trapped wind and no one had died from either and not to worry. I waited 8 months for an apointment with the sleeping clinic, called to cancel the day before as I had a cold and the reading wouldn`t be accurate. NHS doesn`t answer phones though, its all answer machines. They claimed they didn`t get my message, I`d wasted their time and not to bother making another apointment
Half of my face was swelling for six months, Doctor didn`t have a clue and kept thinking it was an ear infection," try inhaling steam". After six painful months I found out it was an abcess.
My mother took a suspected heart attack and because the local hospital trust decided to have a fucked up way to admit patients she lay on a gurney in supply room for 7 hours.
Whilst out at work during winter one of our customers, an 80 year old woman, fell on ice and was badly hurt and in shock. We called the surgery to get a doctor out and got " Can she walk down to the surgery to save the doctor coming out?"
Start of July I went to hospital to see about having some dental work. Dr told me I needed to lose a bit of weight before he`d put me under, not to worry he`d write to my GP so they`d help with advice etc. I had to contact my GP myself, he forgot. And I`ve got to see the GP tomorrow for blood tests. The NHS has that much money apparently that they can waste it in unasked for blood tests. All I`m doing is the NHS version of weight watchers. Never asked to be tested for shit.
And the fucking doctors have the audacity to have posters saying not to abuse staff or shout at them or fucking have conferences saying how the Govt should ban fast food, chocolate and booze so needn`t see any patients

Did you see that Gerry Robinson program when he went into the NHS to see why and where it was failing? Basically,it needed 2 (main) things, amongst a choice of many... A top Executive type Chairman able to take on the challenge of changing the NHS from within, dealing with all the pen pushers and self interest groups against change.....and a complete overhaul of outdated and ineficient systems and working practices, right across the board.... Doctors,Nurses,Aneisthetists,Administrators, and Politicians were all to blame in varying degrees.. before throwing money at it, as an extra ?75b in 10yrs for very little REAL progress has shown.....Thing is the changes needed would upset so many people(people hate change) it would be an utterly thank less task, requiring a candidate of exemplary skills(Diplomatic and Ruthless,Driven,,etc)that we probably dont have in the
UK........ But as he said, if your paying top money for the best in the world,to do the best job possible ,would you care if he wasnt British?

Complete and utter tosh!
I walked into my GP last week and got a range of choices plus the opportunity of phoning on the open day that Sarah is referring to which I took and got an appointment same day.

I think control needs to be taken out of the doctors hands. Letting them run the NHS seems like letting children run a sweet shop. They`ve got too much self interest and run things to suit themselves.

This is exactly what Robinson was saying.....hence needing a massive personality able to engage all the different characters involved .... Who cares if its an American,Italian,Brazilian,Puerto Rican (Ok,maybe not an American!cigar!) on ?12m a year- If he / she is pushing changes through, saving Money,Saving lives........ I cant say i know the fella ,Robinson, other than he was some big cheese in business but he came across as intelligent ,charming,capable-also ruthless,so he would get my vote... ......
