You're right. Lots of England fans should clean up their act, but somehow I doubt that would suddenly turn the Scots into supporting the old enemy !happy! And talking of cleaning up our acts, let's not forget what Rangers fans did in Manchester pretty recently.
As for both hammer4life's generalisations and crofter's childish retort: they're as bad as one another!

Scotsmen have a national dress ------ the kilt ---- only ignorant Englishmen call it a skirt and we are proud of it. What do Englishmen have ????? fucking Morris dancers, a bunch of jessies prancing about trying to play jingle bells with old coca cola lids tied to their legs and waving little sticks about. What the fuck is that all about .Bunch of ponces, Or is your national dress still a bowler hat and umbrella, a symbol of all the "businessmen" who've done the country so well lately.
I was refering to the England team and 'supporters', not club teams.
But the Rangers fans were Scottish, no? And as for despising the England team for something a minority of England fans do seems a little daft. And it really is a minority; less than 1% make trouble, even in the biggest of out-of-ground skirmishes.
Alas, I actually agreed with you re the England fans (even though I could have pointed out that 7000 England fans were in Holland recently and all 15 arrests made were Dutch) and my main point was to state that hammer4life and crofter were as bad as eachother. I was trying to meet you half-way in the debate in a, probably, naive attempt to diffuse the bickering between forumites. It's a pity you failed to see that.
Tell you what, I'll agree with you completely: English bad, Scottish good. That better?

But you said: "If the English 'supporters' cleaned up thier act a bit, they and their team might not be so despised."
That gives me the impression you were talking about current/recent behaviour rather than reputation. I don't deny that their reputation definitely precedes them, though, which is a shame because 99% of the fans just want to enjoy the day out.
