Phil Brown's ego has become a runaway train - he believes his own hyperbole absolutely. Sad because it is overshadowing what was undoubtedly great achievements in getting Hull up.
It gets curiouser though, as Hull's downturn in form coincided with Sam Allardyce's appointment at Blackburn - prior to this, he had spent an awful lot of time at Hull with his old mucker Brown..... It doesn't take a genius to work out he was guiding the Tangoman, as subsequently all the good work was squandered

Ancelloti as an outside bet

Hughes has got another season to achieve top 6 (gone if he fails) so don't be putting your precious pounds on him being first to go

McLeish at Brum.
Another old firm manager that can't cut it down south.
Have there been any that have had success with Celtic or Rangers then come down here and repeated it?

Brainsinmedick. Sounsess done ok. Liverpool have been 2nd best for years so you cant really blame souness.
Martin O'neill is doing ok with villa.
Although not a manager of the old firm Ferguson is doing not too bad i think. plus davie moyles.
English managers on the other hand!! Look at your top 6 last year not one english manager. The rest of your league is made up of a mixture. Apart from stevie bruce english managers are hopeless you cant even get one for your own national team!
Would be interesting to see an english manager in the superior spanish league. Actually scrap that theirs none that would get a job.

Souness won 1 fa cup in 5 years and finished as low as 6th, their worst finish in living memory.
Martin O'Neil I agree has done ok.
Ferguson as you said yourself, not old firm.
Gordon Strachan, Tony Mowbray, Alex Mcleish wouldn't get near a top job in England.
Jock Wallace, Billy McNeil and Walter Smith were a disaster.

Lol yeah the league is full of these superior English Managers Brainsinmedick ... so who is the English Manager that is residing in a "Top Job" at the moment then??

I think you might have to go back a good few years as any of the new breed of English Managers have lasted about 10 minutes in the Premier League in that time before going back to lower league obscurity.

Fair enough, off the top of my head I can only think of Redknapp and Hodgson as English managers who are having relative success.
But everyone mentioned in this thread, Phil Brown, Mark Hughes,Benitez,Gary Megson,Joe Hart or Paul hart or even Jennifer Hart could take over at Celtic or Rangers tomorrow and win a trophy this season.
In fact some of those mentioned above(Strachan/Souness) already have and can't get a job anywhere.

This season's starting with:

8 english
4 scots
2 irish
2 spanish
2 italian
1 french
1 welsh

so there aren't as many overseas coaches as I'd imagined personally - 5 out of the 20. the scots are always strong in number and quality normally.

Last 5 "great" English managers in my opinion:

Brian Clough
Bob Paisley
Don Revie
Alf Ramsey
Bill Nicholson

i.e. we're going back a bloody long way now!
