I'd just like to hear one of these soft, easy interviewers say, "Of course, you know this would never have happened if you hadn't left her alone to go out?"

But it seems they're beyond criticism.

I agree that it was wrong what they did but that still doesnt get around the fact their daughter is missing and even more that it is not progressive to just think they had a hand in it when we dont know that for sure.

It seems some have decided to be judge, jury and executioner on this topic.

On 21 July 2008 the Portuguese police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann issued a statement saying that the McCanns' suspect status had been lifted and that they were therefore not regarded as suspects in the case, were not wanted for questioning in Portugal and were not being investigated by the Portuguese police or any other law enforcement agency on their behalf. This remains the position today as no further statement has been made.

Not really. Without any evidence that they could say warranted further investigation, the Portuguese police could not have justified continuing to regard the Mccanns as suspects. Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro, Portugal?s Attorney-General, had told police to either produce evidence against the McCanns or to lift their suspect status and make it clear they were not under investigation and were not required for any further questioning.

No, it means they are not wanted for questioning in Portugal and are not being investigated by the Portuguese police or by any other law enforcement agency on their behalf, which is what the statement said.

What the statement said is what the statement means.
