Re: So What Did You Think Of Ashes 2 Ashes

I thought it was good. I dont think they needed to have that young girl (aged about 20) killed. I thought that after the Policeman had died, in that sex club, that would be the only death. It was especially tragic as the girl was so young. I didn't quite understand why Gene and the gang so brutally harassed the wife of the dead copper, assumng she had killed her husband even though they had no evidence or even a strong reason to believe she had. That was cruel and not pleasant to watch.
Gene is meant to be a loveable roque who breaks the rules for the right reasons, but that was just nastiness on his part. The girl who died had moved down to London from Manchester to become an actress but had ended up working in a sex club. After she was killed Gene said: "they should put a sign up at every Northern railway station saying 'the streets of London are paved with shit' ". That was the best line of the show. (I say that even though I love this city and have lived here all my life. Go to King's Cross and see how many homeless people there are there. It's the gateway to London from the north and many people who have problems get on a train and think London will be kind to them when they get here. Many don't get much further than the streets around the station.
