He attempted a hit in London. His target was the then boss of Marks and Spencer. It was classic Carlos. He simply knocked on the victim's front door and shot him. But despite shooting him in the face at point blank range he failed to kill his victim.
Typical Carlos really, brave and incompetent.

All pictures of me from that time have been shredded and then burnt for good measure.
I think "Carlos The Jackass" had a number of different safe houses, so he probably lived near me for a short time, before disappearing into another address. But I think he liked London W2, lots of Arabs there, I suppose he felt at home.

His judgement must have been impaired by all the ganja he'd consumed (actively or passively) in Westbourne Grove.

Thirty years ago I was an airport immigration officer. We were told one day that Carlos the Jackal was expected from Paris and we were to point him out to Special Branch. I saw a bloke fitting the description so I went down to the SB office, but it was empty. Using my deductive skills, I went up to the departure lounge bar and found the duty SB guy nursing a pint. I told him I'd seen a bloke matching the description of Carlos the Jackal - and he said "Carlos who, mate?" I thought sod it, and got myself a pint as well...

If I remember right, MI5 had started a file on him when he was just 5 years old. An immigration officer at Dover (I think) sent them a report because he thought it curious that a middle class Venezuelan family had named its children after Russian communist leaders.

Is Carlos Tevez named after the same Russian communist leader or after Carlos the Jackal ? What about Carlos Santana ?
