Luckily I never started recycling - apparently it now costs more to recycle glass than to make it new, when you take into account all the collection/sorting/melting/reforming processes.

I think you'll find the MP was suspend for picking up the Mace and putting it on the unoccupied front bench.
That is something that isn't allowed, something not done for around 30 years and *uck all to having a conscience in the Labour party. If any MP from any party did it they to would have been suspended.
I actually disagree with the plans and not for the green bandwagon, I am against it because of the people in Sipson.
Those for it do actually have a good argument when you look at other Hub's but the best way forward for me would be to build another airport in a far more suitable location.
The trouble with that idea is that the 'greens' will then try and find an argument for it not to be put there as well.
What's baffling me is the high speed rail link being proposed by Green Dave.
As someone who lives close to a railway line and who is affected by it almost 24/7 (my pc is actually shacking writing this as another train passes) I think the consequence with their plan would be that it would effect even more than the 700+ homes, businesses etc in Sipson.
The other hypocrisy of green Dave is that when he tours the UK its done by helicopter, unless the media is with him on a train, which, as I understand it, is the worse none green travel option available.

Re: Hypocrisy over Heathrow's third runway...
They said there would never be a fourth terminal, then there was. They said there would never be a fifth terminal, then there was. We are now getting terminal six and a third runway aswell. I wonder what Heathrow will be like in 20 or 30 years time. Probably be the size of a city with numerous villages and suburban areas of west London having been bulldozed to allow for the expansion.
Apparently the 4th most flown-to destination from Heathrow is Manchester, so if more people used the train there may not be as much need to keep expanding, but then that would negatively affect several airlines and put many people out of a job. I think it is odd to fly from London to Manchester. The time it would take to get to Heathrow from the centre of London, then waiting around, then the flight, then disembarking, then travelling from Manchester airport to the centre of Manchester, it would surely have been quicker to take the train!

I tried to do a short notice trip Manchester to London just before Xmas. ?163 cattle class! Cheaper to fly, and even cheaper to drive. You'll never get people off the roads whilst the alternatives are 4x the cost. (8x when there's two of us.)
