Although I would hazard a guess your house is as white as my house.

45% of minority ethnic people live in London:

From the data I'd think anywhere in NI would be the whitest - that's why they (and Scotland) discriminate on religion instead :)

From my experience of driving around the North of England, because of my job commitments, I have often noticed that many of the Asian immigrants chose to set up home in absolute shitholes like Bolton, Burnley, Blackburn, Halifax, Bradford, etc.

One can't help but wondering that if you were going to travel half way around the world to a new country, then you'd choose a better place to live than some of these shitholes.

My question though is, were these places always shitholes, or as the influx of our ethnic population contributed to their demise?

thats a good point.
also you can say the same about whitechapel, stepney green, brick lane areas in east london.
Where these areas also always bad??

I also wonder if these areas would look like they do now if the krays where still about?

Dont also forget that for whatever reason most of the white people moved away so who else was going to move in???

it seems that most white people seem to want to move out and get a place in the country as per many a tv programme.

then the question comes up why?

crime? over crowding?
or just that we think its beneath us to live in such areas as its below our class?

Other than the possibility that it might conceivably contravene the Race Relations Act, what exactly is wrong with calling a Pakistani a 'Paki' or a Jew a 'Yid'?

Now, it may be that people are made of some more flimsy material nowadays but I, for one, would be deeply ashamed of myself if I were ever to be genuinely offended by a derogatory comment about my skin colour, ethnicity or place of origin.

Indeed, it seems to me that those who claim to be thus offended are either bare-faced liars or have so little moral fibre as to be deserving of the most utter contempt.

I probably live in one of the largest conurbations where it is still relatively rare to see non-white residents. Here in Norwich, I would suspect that the non-white population amounts to no more than 1 or 2 percent.
