Some very good (or bad) ones there.
Another real gem is from another Duran Duran song. The song is called "Of Crime And Passion" and is on their 1984 album "Seven And The Ragged Tiger". Get this:
'Summer of madness the end of it all, drag me up an alley for the blossoming fire on a strangers smile'.
That is the exact line. What the hell do the words mean?!! Lol.

For a modern day contender from a so-called 'Top' band...
'What do you want for tea?....I want crisps!!!'....!puke!......Kaiser Chiefs.

I think the kaiser chiefs is unfair to look at because it's not trying to be poetic unlike the others, its a look at the youth of today....
However, I'm actually quite drawn the the Rolling Stones line in the original post....its almost brilliant if you read it differently

Worst song lyrics ever? Has to be 'Imagine' in it's entirety. A fucking nursery rhyme set to a dirge of a tune. A self-indugent excercise in naivete.

biffalo, Imagine by John Lennon does have a strange line in it when you consider the accompanying video. "Imagine no possesions, it's easy if you try" and there is Lennon sitting at the piano in his gigantic mansion in Weybridge (I think) and it is clear to the viewers that he is minted and loves his great possessions! Weird!
idolliesdrrog2, I can see what you are saying about the Rolling Stones song, if it is read a tad differntly. I always remember Bill Wyman saying in his autobiography (he was, of course bass player in the Rolling Stones from 1962 until the early 1990's) that Keith Richards can not sing. If you have a listen to that song "Cant Be Seen" you will know what I mean!
Duran Duran are responsible for so many meaningless lyrics. Although I do think the entire song that is "Parklife" by Blur (1994) is one of the most meaningless collections of nonsense ever written! It was so 'cool' and 'of the moment' (apparantly) that no one dared criticise or question it at the time. Everyone loved it in an 'emporers new clothes' kind of way. Take a step back and listen to the words of 'Parklife'. Total meaningless nonsense!

Bros (not that they wrote the song) 'I Owe You Nothing':
"I'll watch you crumble like a very old wall".
Another one from Bros 'I Quit':
"Most of my friends were strangers when I met them".
Very Bros-centric but some of the good ones were already taken. I think the Bolan lyric "I drive a Rolls Royce 'cause it's good for my voice" was great! Then again, he did do bad rhymes a lot...

That new song by The Killers has one of the daftest, meaningless, lines in the history of music. "Are we human or are we dancers?". What the bleepin' hell does that mean?!!!

I can kind of see something brilliant/beautiful in that Bros lyric too if you try hard to find it :
>>"Most of my friends were strangers when I met them"
Could be read as a nice way of saying certain close friends were never really strangers. But no, I agree I think it's generally shite lol
