A friend I know has Virgin (ex-NTL) broadband.
They do not have the computer (laptop) on all the time but often find they have to have several tries over a couple of hours to get a connection.
Update - Don't Believe this crap!

MY fault on their broadband went fucked om Wednesday, as mentioned above.
When they told me they would be round Saturday to fix it they said there would be a charge if I wasn't in.
Because it has been working since Wednesday and the fault was at their end not mine I decided to cancel the call out.
Believe this or not they had already done it after finding the fault at their end!
The only fucking way I found this out was by ringing them, they had no intention of letting me know.
It would have been fine for them to charge me had I not been in but OK in their opinion to just not turn up!
They are a bunch of useless wankers.
!furious!

My only gripe on Virgin Media is their customer service and sense of urgency,or should i say, lack of.
It is true, they do keep you on hold for god knows how long, and when an operator is available, they don't have a scooby what you're talking about so they fob you off to another colleauge, who also does'nt have a clue.
How annoying is that?

I've been with NTL/Virgin for nearly five years and never had any serious problems. Yes sometimes my broadband connection goes down but it's never been for more than a few hours at a time and over the four year period it's happened maybe 5 or 6 times. Would I be better off with another broadband provider... no!
As for the TV, I'm on the XL package with the HD box. With the exception of LOST on Sky 1 I don't feel I'm missing anything by not being with Sky... in fact I get Setanta free, so can watch all of my team's games whoever broadcasts them!
It's true that their customer services department is pretty clueless and keep you habging on for a long time, but I've only had to call them twice in all the time I've been with them.
Given the choice between lining Murdoch's pockets and Branson's , I'd rather give my hard earned cash to Branson any day than the Aussie cunt!
