Adult material, TV, magazines, UK and the law is a very interesting subject. Half of the time UK law responds to public demand which is going in the way of the US. Very conservative but at the same time produces dirty filthy porn. Although try and find an American ?Nuts, ECT? equivalent magazine? The situation may have changed since last year but my American friends were shocked (plus enjoyed) reading Nuts & Loaded . A general magazine you can buy of the shelf full of bums and tits and really marketed as a porn mag for the under 18?s (that can?t buy real porn mags).

The situation in the press and media is complicated; you have media like ?Nuts? magazines; and sections of the media saying we need to protect the young and innocent nearly to witch hunt obsession. The UK government, at the moment are listening to the ?morally brighter than white section? within society and media. It?s easy to blame magazines like ?Nuts? and stations such as Babestation for the morel corruption and behaviour of youth today while not addressing the real issues. Plus it makes good headlines.

As for models on these shows, as a producer of adult material, I could never blame them for working on such shows. Pisses me off when they have been working all night and can?t be arsed to get up for my shoot. However, it?s reliable income which pays the bills and not their fault they can?t do anything harder. UK porn industry is not like the US where there are multimillion dollar porn companies. Models here rely on smaller producers who are mostly likely shooting out of their own pocket.

The UK at the moment will never get rules like the rest of Europe. What I do find strange is when you look at the statistics from other European countries that have a more relaxed attitude to sex both in the media and in society they have less teenage pregnancies than the UK, ECT. Instead of looking into European attitudes to sex the UK government insist on more controls.

Karina, thanks for taking the time to post here at such length.

I too think that Jacque's point of view is ludicrous. To blame the FTA channels for having some sort of effect on the hardcore world is idiotic. They are two separate and complementary markets.

He also doesn't help his case (whatever that is) by confusing two separate softcore delivery systems on TV. The FTA channels are 'what you see is what you get' - there's no conning going on because we can all see what's on offer!

Encrypted subscription channels are, on the other hand, sometimes highly suspect is what they say they'll deliver 'after encryption' and what they actually deliver. These are not FTA channels Jacques, please stop confusing the two.

I would like to see more regulation of the above behaviour along with banning the outrageous twelve month sign up policy for the likes of TVX. No wonder it's a licence to print money!

The ultra mild FTA channels have their place in the market and it will be a shame if they're forced to encrypt or go off the air. As you say Karina, they're also a good source of stable income for porn models and if that dries up I'm sure many will have to leave the business.

What the latest thinking Karina? As you work for the biggest player it would be interesting to know what they plan to do. Are these stations definitely having to go encryted, and is it viable to be encrypted, only accessible by a PIN, yet still free to view?

If not I suppose some will close down and others will try and compete in the subscription market, and I can't see that being easy.

I'd love to read this but I'm not gonna make my eyes suffer a paragraph that size!

More paragraphs please!
