i really wanted to access desktop from wireless laptop over network sort of thing like when you share a printer isnt it?

Yes you could do that wirelessly, sorry. just have the lappy on the same network.

how would that work sam would that mean i could access shared desktop stuff from lappy and shared lappy stuff from desktop or wjust one way
i think i know how to turn on file sharing in vista but not sure bout xp

Through the Control Panel > Internet and Network Connections > Set up a wireless network for home or small office.
Follow the instructions.
You have installed the router, and it's all working ok, right?

ye its all working great sam im on desktop now connected to router by etnernet cable and laptop is also next to me and thats connected to internet also but wirelessly to router so ye both machines on line at same time no problem

Well you shouldn't have any issues following the setup in XP. It's pretty simple from what I can remember (I did it about 2 years ago last, but it was from an XP desktop to an Apple Powerbook)
