If a comedian's funny, they can get away with almost anything. If they're not funny (like Kielty for example), they should stick to "safe" material.

I went to see Reginald D Hunter recently who had a stand up show called Pride, Prejudice and Niggas. He's a very funny guy, and regularly upsets people - but he's funny enough that he can do that and still get bookings.

Talking of 9/11 I remember the Al Murray Joke

The American comedian Gilbert Gottfried got booed on stage two weeks after 9/11 for saying that he wasn't normally worried about travelling by plane but the flight he had just booked had a stopover at the Empire State Building.
