Thats right, and have you noticed there's never any trouble when foreign fans come to this country, why? because
A: they are treated like human beings.
B: the games are policed correctly and we have stewards who know what they are doing.
Football Trouble.
Re: Football Trouble.
One loaded question for the Ities, but what did the police do to their trouble makers who started it?

Re: Football Trouble.
I don't think in the history of 'any' British football team, there have been fans who made bombs to target police/other fans with. Yes I know an Italian policeman was killed a few weeks ago......if that's the case then the Italian police should have been inside the 'ROMA' enclosure, NOT the Man Utd enclosure as that's where the main threat would come from.
I'd also add there's hardly been any violence from any English teams fans for over 14 years (at least champs league/uefa games) and most of the violence in that time has come from Italy, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey.
If you're going to treat English fans as though we're still living in the 70's & 80's then we've still got to call all Germans 'Nazi's'. It doesn't wash.
All in all England had the worst violent record in football, and now has one of the best records. British games have minimal policing inside the ground with not a baton or CS gas cannister in sight. England also has some of the highest attendances in Europe. We didn't crack heads to sort ourselves out and set a good example of how policing at grounds should be done.
You're always going to get the odd element of trouble no matter where you're from, or who you support, but it's how the police deal with it, and obviously European policing needs some serious catchup.
The 'police' were the animals that night, not the fans, and 'the police' should know better, being in a situation of responsibility.

Re: Football Trouble.
I think we all have to remember that the continental countries like Spain, Italy and Greece have a vastly different way of policing though.
I mean they all carry guns even security guards at the hotels so maybe that should be taken into account by the fans ... these dudes are not to be messed with stay well clear as they don't ask any questions before lashing out - it is there jurisdiction to do so ... when in Rome etc.
It seems it just takes a few cunty fans to ruin it for everybody else as usual and they are the ones to blame for innocents getting their head busted open and not the Spanish/Italian Police.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: Football Trouble.
Alice is spot on, REAL football fans go for the football, and NOT the confrontation with their lager fuelled testosterone.
The West London of my youth is now on dvd
No if you are a fan you go to a football match to watch the game not stand up and throw things and shout obscenities which makes these individuals animals,
Doesn't wash. If you want to sit down and clap ever so quaintly then go watch the ballet. Football fans swear, chant and -shock horror- stand up sometimes. I don't condone violence and throwing objects though........just like I don't condone cracking skulls.
the police are outnumbered so have to use brute force as these morons do not care who they attack which is why they are treated like animals
British police are also outnumbered at games and most of the crowd control is done by stewards. There were more police in the Man Utd section in Rome the other night than you'd see in a whole stadium in England. Violence breeds violence. The British police found this out 20 years ago and that's why England has the safest, racist-free grounds in Europe.
It wasn't 'nipping in the bud', nor was it 'crowd control', it was just an opportunity for some Italian police to crack English skulls. It was so obvious that they wanted the Roma fans to taunt the English (Roma fans weren't stopped and there was no police in their section), and it was so obvious that the police were dying for an opportunity to dish out some beatings (they did).
The police should have picked out the 'bottle throwers' from both sets of fans and taken them out of the ground like in England. Throwing a bottle doesn't mean you should get beat with batons. Hell, lots of people who just happened to stand in the wrong place got hit with batons.
The Man Utd fans didn't do anything the AS Roma fans weren't doing already, so why the police beatings on 1 side only?
Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee. POLICE LOVE AGGRO JUST AS MUCH AS SOME FANS, AND I MEAN LOVE AGGRO.

Re: Football Trouble.
I disagree with what Ace said about ManUnited. Of the 4000 fans who went out there to Rome, the vast majority were there for the football. Yes there were warnings made to United fans about trouble. But lets not forget what the italian police did to us. They beat innocent supporters to the ground. Tensions are running high in Manchester, and i fear the worst on Tuesday for the so called Roma Ultras. As the song Goes. I do predict a Riot and a nasty one at that.

The 'Ultras' don't travel Johnnyboy22. They're mummy's boys that sit at home on away games, and only cause hassle at home games when they're a majority.
Anyway the trouble inside the ground was all about the Italian police, not the Italian fans. I hope Manchester doesn't seek revenge on the few Italian fans that make it across to our shore because they'd more than likely be the proper fans, and not the Ultras.

Re: Football Trouble.
I'm with Sam on this one.
So according to Ace and Alice it was ok for the spanish police to attack someone in a wheelchair (an obvious football hooligan) with batons, and also young girls who again must have been out there to cause trouble.!hmmm!
