To be a really big club then that club needs a history and tradition of success over a number of years and decades as well as a large supporter base and the financial clout.

Chelsea don't have that history and tradition of success only the money. Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool have all of them which is why they are the big clubs and Chelsea are not.

I don't know why that rankles with Chelsea fans but it seems to hit a raw nerve. If somebody came and bought the mighty Yeovil Town and took us into the Premiership I wouldn't give a fuck. I'd just lap it up.

The problem is that alot of Chelsea fans seem to want justification and plaudits to the Abramovich era and that's highly unlikely.

I have respect for the "proper" chelsea fans but their are far too many glory hunters who have jumped on the band wagon

Tell you what, though, I've gotta retract some of my twat-based rantings on Cristiano.

He is in superb form, arguably the best player in the world, and is helping Man Utd defeat the cheats who are Chelski, and thus ensuring footballing justice is done!

Chelsea might want to buy him now..........

!laugh!

Just noticed your posting and I am bent over with my trousers down so you can publicly kick my arse. Yes we were beaten by the superior team, Chelsea's experience won through. Well done the Blues.

You might want to adopt that pose for a while Marino incase any Northern Bastards from Blackburn want to take a turn at kicking your arse as well.

Still, you are a good sport for taking the loss with dignity and holding your hands up.

Firstly, the debate was about "history" and not about being a "big club"

Secondly, this stuff about having to achieve success over a long period of time to be a "big club" is complete nonsense. In my eyes, though I hate to admit it, Tottenham are undoubtedly a big club but they've won 2 titles in their history. For some reason people seem to think that nothing ever changes and that there are x number of clubs that can claim to be big and nobody else can ever break into that.

At the moment, Chelsea play in front of 40,000 full houses every week, are winning trophies by the bucketload and if it comes to a bidding war for a specific player, could outbid anybody else out there. You can have your reservations about Abramovich but that makes us a big club at this moment in time. Will it last? Who knows

Personally, I don't want any plaudits at all and let's be frank the rest of the football world is so green with envy, we're never going to get any credit for our achievements anyway.

All I can say is that there's not a fan out there who wouldn't have loved to have had an Abramovich figure walk into their club like he did with us.
