It's actually nice to see a thread with some bite and relevance, Dibble's on the ball with his usual sitting on the fence, liberal, wishy washy views, Ha, Ha, ha!
Have to agree with you though, I think that C4 news is the best, its tends to be the only news programme that I take any notice of.
Any chance of the moderators getting a separate forum for all those sad fuckers that keep going on about Bang/babes/bollocks/babes, it's starting to get really irritating.

You want to try watching news progs. down here. We get items of the type that would hardly merit a mention on UK regional news, then to pad out the half-hour, Australian items.
The exception is a new local channel, Triangle, that has a range of foreign news progs. in English, including (cough, cough) AlJazeera.

Interestingly, at the time of Harold Wilson's resignation, one of his cabinet ministers, Tony Benn, had been given one, all-important task - to literally beg Iran to begin a nuclear programme.

A few months ago its was North Korea. Suddenly, all quiet - no problems. Amazing how these things just fade away.

While Iran MIGHT start something, they would be commiting suicide to attack the U.S. or one of their allies.

While individuals and small groups of nutters might blow themselves up for their God, governments are always too concerned for their own welfare to try that. A conventional war is far more likely. Iran is most likely just talking big to impress the Iranian population.
This is NOTHING to do with nuclear power/weapons any more than Iraq was about WMD.
WMD's and Iraq was always a lie. That was obvious, and I supported the war to get Saddam's genocidal arse out of power, not because of suspected WMD's. We know it was oil the USA did it for, but Saddam's out, which is a step in the right direction: I hope.
Don't let yourself get taken in by the propaganda
I'm always pretty objective. Getting Saddam out doesn't mean I agree with American policies, just that I wanted Saddam out! As for the Iranians - well their human rights record isn't the best, but I feel encouragement and diplomacy are better to sort that problem out, along with a 'fully' democratic government.

I will however, support means of disarmament if Iran develops nuclear weapons. It's always more unstable if religious peoples are in extreme power, and it's a fundamental goal for all Islamic peoples. (I'm sure it's in the Quran that Islamic people should strive for a government that is wholly Islamic.)

Strictly,
You are spot on with your analysis of the Motivations of the American right but Blair is also a believer in the prophecy of Armageddon and this makes it twice as likely. All the "righteous" one's believe that Armageddon and the second coming of Christ is imminent and that during the Rapture they will shed all their worldly things and rise up to Heaven naked as they were born!

Unless they are stopped then a nuclear conflagration will take place in the Middle East.
Nuclear weapons of mass destruction have developed bythe Crusaders to annihilate the religious Muslim enemy of Christendom. Each days draws inexorable to the final solution of Armageddon and the genocide of a race, culture and religion.

Paradoxically Islam recognises the existence of Christ as a Holy man in the Koran and both groups Christian and Islamic fundamentalists believe that the secular and agnostic people of their indigenous cultures are corrupt non believers.

Religion is a sexual perversion : a polymorphous sexual society is for the fundamentalists Sodom and Gomorrah.
