[qoute]Pushing Ronaldo was a sending off offence. The ref was right to give the red card.[/quote]

I have to admit I'm a crap player and a dirty one (to make up for my ball skills). But I've never played in the World Cup, where undoubtedly I'd win the red cards competition.

People were sent off for less than Rooney did during this tournament. Bottom line: Rooney was stupid to push the guy, regardless of his provocation and cheating. He must have known he'd face punishment, and obviously his emotions overcame his common sense.

I say again: Ronaldo didn't get Rooney sent off, although he "helped".

Nah, lets not forget Rooney got a 'straight red card'. Nobody got a straight red for less. Maybe 2 yellows, but not a 'straight red'. There's a big difference.

I've never blamed Ronaldo for the sending off tbh. I've always blamed the ref's agenda.

Never been a dirty player myself. Though all my sendings off have been arguments with the referee !innocent!
