Excellent reply, which demonstrates perfectly that the real reason we regard this crime as being so serious is unconnected with the victim.

OMG - I can't believe you just sid that!!!!!!
Re: Leicester cop scandal
Yet I did - and it is true.
You see, rape has been regarded as a very serious crime since time immemorial, but not due to its impact upon the victim. Rather it was because women was regarded as goods and chattels of men, whether as daughters, wives or servants.
The impact of the offence upon the victim was hardly even taken into consideration.
This attitude prevailed right through to the twentieth century and vestigial remnants of it can still be seen today, as evinced by the police's inadequate handling of these cases and by the reply made to my earlier, deliberately provocative, comments upon the matter.

correction: " ....... were regarded as......"
Re: Leicester cop scandal
My response was directed at a male making what sounded like an incredibly flippant post about rape.
Maybe it should be rephrased? ie: "If YOU had been raped, you'd be laughing on the other side of your face"

Re: Leicester cop scandal
yes - well - that stems from being in the cave man ages - and we are not animals now are we? - so if rape is ok is it then ok for the victim or victims partner to kill the rapist???
And no it's not just us women who get raped it's men too - so would you feel it was just nicking someones parking space if you had a cock forced up your arse?
