Only Michael Douglas thinks he can act.

These channel 4 "best" lists were entertaining at first but have gotten very very tedious. Cringe-indcing scripted anecdotes by a host of d and z-list "celebs" many of them far too young to know what they supposedly reminiscing about.
What next, channel 4 presents "100 Greatest Ever Dog Turds"

The list is total nonsense, particularly with Orson Welles and Burt Lancaster so near the bottom.

Clint Eastwood not even in the top 50 Actors - fuck the luvvies must not rate Westerns and Violent Action Films.
Anthony Hopkins as top Brit ... I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. For me the top British Actor has to be Sir Alec Guiness easily!!

It was voted on by actors on both sides of the pond, it wasn't purely a film poll, and there were many noted absences from the top 50.

De Niro or Pacino would have walked it, if they weren't so utterly lazy. A lot of easy choices made by both of them in the last 20 years. Much the same could be said for Nicholson, and perhaps Hackman.

Brando's influence is what put him top. Depp's versatility merits a high placing, and Sir Larry will always be revered for his theatre moments---no matter how hammy he now appears. Had to agree with Phil Daniels: Hopkins in Remains Of The Day was superb. He can be awful at times, and OTT, but that was underplaying at its best.

The men that should have been Britain's best---Burton and Finney---made odd choices for their own reasons. We don't see nearly enough of Finney, but when we do it's a revelation. Miller's Crossing and Big Fish showed his almost effortless talent.

I was surprised not to see Harvey Keitel on the list.
