Chelsea
Re: Chelsea
Mourinho's a baby. Riijkaard is much more gracious and impressive as a person.
Re: Chelsea
His stuff about them not being able to beat Chelsea 11v11 was cobblers. In the first leg, they were already passing Chelsea to death before the red card. In this leg, they got a very dodgy penalty for the draw.
Chelsea are the football equivalent of lottery chav Michael Carroll. Tons of money but no class whatsoever.
Long time fans of this once proud club must be completely ashamed of what they've become?

Re: Chelsea
Actually, Jose DID say the better team went through.
I was disappointed with Drogba up front, and Robben and Duff on the flanks. Personally, SWP on the right and Joe Cole on the left and Crespo up front would have caused Barca a few more problems than last night.
It wasn't a penalty, JT was clearly off-side and the tackle was a fair one.
Die-hard fans like me are not ashamed of what has happened, but we are left feeling like being hit across the face with a wet fish after last nights result.
We'll be back, in the meantime, the title and FA Cup won't go down as a shit season

Re: Chelsea
Disappointed with last night... JM got the tactics wrong!
4-2-3-1 meant Lampard (our top scorer) was far too deep.
Gudjohnsen is wasted on the bench... he's probably our most creative player, and would have been ideal to support Crespo (who is miles better than Drogba) and with whom he seems to have a good understanding.
Cole, Duff and Robben must look long and hard at their own performances... three players who can play in all the 3 support positions, yet none swapped over... Robben rigidly staying in the middle with Cole on the right and Duff on the left.
Neither Gallas nor Ferreira got forward enough to pin back Barca's wide men.
I also think the "soak up the pressure and hit them on the break" attitude at home was a big mistake. Creative players are only ever dangerous if they have the ball. We kept allowing Barca to retain the ball, and although we scored first, not keeping possesion cost us dear in the end.
As for last night... that was never a penalty.
Barca were the best team over both legs and deserve to go through. Now we can concentrate on trying to do the domestic double.
We do have a few problems which Mourinho must address sooner than later. Firstly he's got to stop winding up other clubs. As one of the best teams in Europe, all our opponents will up their game. Why give them further reason for upping their game by pissing off their manager, players and/or supporters? Secondly, our two most commited players are also those who receive the least number of cards, and who don't indulge in theatrics... it's time for the rest of the team (especially Robben and Drogba) to follow their example.

Re: Chelsea
Yeah the Premiership and the FA Cup in one season aint bad at all but Mourinho has to learn to be less arrogant and act with more humility.
I for one hope Chelsea win the FA Cup as that means they have beaten Newcastle United. I would advise you all to emigrate if the mags ever win anything you will never hear the end of it, honest!!!!!
I have panic attacks at the thought of the mags winning something, so come on Chelsea!!!!!

Re: Chelsea
Was it the fourth or fifth round last season Newcastle beat chelski in the fa cup ? and a "brave" , (panic to me) 3 subs at half time by Jose , and then watch it all fall apart in the 2nd half , Carlo sent off and the left back in a heap with big Al' and a broken ankle for your trouble . Yeah share it all around come on you geordies do it again . I agree Jose needs to learn to be less arrogant and a bit more dignified in winning aswell as defeat . I'm not biased to teams in the top flight , i support the mighty reds , whom were twice champions of europe a lifetime ago !tears! . JJ .
Re: Chelsea
Jaybo it was the fifth round mate, I can remember not being very happy but the mighty reds humiliated the mags 4-1 in the semi final so big respect Sir Alex, cheers it made my day that thrashing!!!!
Being a Sunderland fan, lets face it I havent got much to shout about this season, so a Chelsea win in the sixth round will do me very nicely indeed.
Come on Chelsea!!!!

Ronaldinho:"No amount of money will take me to Chelsea - money doesn't buy me happiness" and "I would never play for a team (chelsea) that kicks your feet first everytime they go for the ball".

Ronaldinho may well have said that, but given Chelsea havn't made any enquiries about him (it was fairly obvious 3/4 years ago when Man U tried to sign him that he never had any intention playing in England... he needs the warmer climes of Spain to be able to work) it's a fairly pointless quote. The second part was attributed to him, but he has said similar things about every other major club he's played against with whom he has also been "linked".
With regard to the CL, most average European sides would feel themselves in with a chance against Real Madrid these days... I think Arsenal have gone as far as they can this season, and won't qualify for the competition next year. So we have at least 3 years before they can expect to be considered "challengers"... and whoknows, with no CL next season will Henry stay? If he doesn't, I think a few others will leave with him and then where does that leave Arsenal? Scrabbling for a UEFA Cup place at best.
The group of clubs with a realistic chance of winning the competition numbers some five or six (Barca, Inter, Juve, Chelsea, Bayern and perhaps Real Madrid)... with another 5 or 6 (Lyon, Liverpool, Man U, Ajax, and whoever the 3rd Spanish and Italian sides are that year) capable of causing an upset.
Any of those teams will require a fair slice of luck on their way to winning the trophy. Those of us who are realists are happy to see our side (Chelsea) start the last few seasons as "one of the teams to beat"
The last two seasons have seen what could be termed "fluke results" in Liverpool and Porto winning... let's hope we don't get another fluke result (Arsenal).
As far as Chelsea are concerned, we've not played that well in the competition all season, so even if we had drawn an easier side than Barca in the 2nd round we would have struggled to do as well as the past two seasons.
