He and Taupin have written many great songs over the years, but remember the crap stuff as well: the destruction of Candle In The Wind, not to mention Bernie's worst moment ("We built this city on rock and roll").

Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (ah hell, just say the whole Goodbye Yellowbrick Road album), I'm Still Standing, Kiss The Bride, Passenger, Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Sacrifice. . . . loads of stuff.

Early stuff is fabulous. But apart from the song The One anything after about 1977 is dross.

Not an Elton fan. If she's on the radio I may not switch over, but can't wait for the song to end. On the other hand, if Michael Jackson comes on, I switch off or over.

Is the 2nd para your likes or dislikes?

Kiss The Bride and I'm Still Standing in particular would fall under the 'dross' category for me...

I like them. They're fun, bouncy and impossible not to tap my feet to.

The second par was stuff I like. And once upon a time, I thought Candle In The Wind was a great song.

Not a fan............. but 'Don't Go Breakin' My Heart' is a (karaoke) classic.

I hear Ms Rampton's was 'I'm Still Standing' which she played on the jukebox as a boast after downing 4litres of absinthe, 2 bottles of Southern Comfort and half a can of Castrol GTX in her 'Alex Higgins' heyday! !wink!
