Microsoft got anally raped when they was talking about a built in Virus scanner due to "pushing the competition out" and all that monopoly shit.

I bet MS would make it so it couldn't be uninstalled

As anyone knows running 2 anti-virus programs side by side properly is nigh on impossible, let alone thinking about any other real time online spyware/malware scanner you might be using

Interesting side issue is the anti-virus v anti spyware/malware scanning article dated December 13th

from Deuce's post

Article.-
"A software vendor's new technique for snuffing out spyware is raising questions over whether products such as it could crash computers by clashing with antivirus tools that have used such methods for a decade."

I have never understood why there is TWO SEPERATE things neaded in the first place.

Why didn't the Virus Scanners adapt to include Spyware as that emerged?.

It's all a bloody nuisance. !furious!

Thanks for your help.

I tried about five different virus removal software and nne of them detected the virus.

In the end I cleared it by doing a system restore. I will know next time what to do.

Cheers & good luck

Andy

System Restore does not clean viruses.. Which is why when you clean up you sholud turn it off and after you have cleaned up you should purge them.

Probably because it wasn't financially viable

Keeping one anti-virus program up to date on a daily basis in real time has got to cost a small fortune

Imagine adding on all the various types of spyware/malware

The amount of threats being written worldwide would make it almost impossible unless you had an endless number of quality staff

We get back to the old argument

Who's actually writing the bad software

Sometimes the same poeple that write the security software

I use AVG, they regularly update and all for free. I don't know how they do it but am glad they do........

Regarding the Virus program manufacturers that charge for their product. When things are a bit slow on the sales front what regulation is there so that there is no risk that somehow a nasty worm doesn't suddenly appear that can be detected by this company thus probably increasing sales. I am not saying they would release a virus/worm etc. but what controls are in place?????.
After all you are not allowed to manipulate share prices and do other insider trading.
Impossible to control Therefore I believe it is the DUTY of the operating system supplier (MS in most cases) to protect the product you have paid them money for and they have provided with these weaknesses!!!!! and all included in the original price.
