I wouldn't say it's the shittiest (I can think of worse) but it's not amazing... the legacy of a constantly Labour council is masses and masses of insular council estates that they carried on building way after the demand had started to drop, the "solution" to which has been to demolish them block by block, often willy-nilly. There are "Closes" that have been demolished (and 5 years ago too) that were built in 1979 & 1980... nothing short of disgraceful. And who is the MP for Hull East? Step forward Mr John Prescott..... There are good things going on Hull but as for urban development/decay, it's the pits.
In contrast to this, the suburbs and villages to the west of Hull (actually outside of the city boundary) are some of the most beautiful, and indeed monied, areas in the country. Having spent a lot of time in Surrey and Cheshire, I'd say the area 15 miles to the north and west of Hull compare very favourably.
